Dolphin 7 Downward Compat?

Before I take a major plunge in purchasing templates, modules etc, will Dolphin 7 be downward compatible with the core system?

In other words, would it be wise to be minimal at this time in regards to getting templates and plugins/mods, or will 7.x take into account these things and work with them?  (within reason)

Hello MedFord,

From what I can tell, the DB isn't going to change much.  However, the interface for Dolphin 7 is going to be alot different.  Also, they are integrating Ray/Orca into Dolphin (thank goodness) to relieve alot of the confusion about installing the software.

As far as the mods go, it does look like each version requires a new mod.  So, if you're going to go with 7, I would wait on that stuff.

Hi Medfordite,

I agree with Adam, wait on the new release as there will be a new way to apply mods to your dolphin site. I hope this helps.

Alrighty then. :)  I am just hitting some of the "free" templates to help move away from the standard look of Dolphin for now.

It just might coincide with my renewal of the domain name as well when 7.x is released.  :)  It will be at that time I will be moving the site to a new host and probably be in the mode of purchasing more ad free licenses.

Thanks everyone for your information.  I do look forward to seeing the new version in full swing.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
