Dolphin 7.1 Osho aproximate release date?

I recently purchased Dolphin  thanks to all the advice from Nathan and other users and I am very happy with the product.

Could I know an aproximate release date of dolphin 7.1 osho? According to how long it would take  I would delay making my website public or start to go out. Also is upgrading to osho risky for users who already have a community built up with 7.0.9?

Sincerely,

Rolf

I would suggest to start with 7.0.9 and upgrade to 7.1.0 when it is released. But don't add any modules, it could cause problems with upgrading of after upgrading. Because modules maybe incompatible with new version, or some changes maybe overwritten (if such have place).

After 7.1.0 is released you can add 3rd-party modules after making sure if is compatible.

So you all say I should start to go online or wait a month longer? Will this have any negative effect if I launch my site and its already indexed? Will I lose my template customizations such as the drop down menu look etcetera? Will I lose user data and other information upon a update and is it secure?

Any help is appreciated!

Sincerely,

Rolf

As AlexT said. Your better off starting wirh 7.0.9

The 7.1 update is perhaps at least 2-3 months away. As for upgrades, it should work like any other. No loss of data or members. It's the mods, as always you have to pay attention to.

In this case they are making a lot of changes and i suspect many current modules will not work with 7.1.

I also believe they are changing the template system. So i have a feeling not a single template for 7.0.x will work at all on 7.1

So look at it this way, it will be at least 2-3 months give or take for the release of 7.1 and then several more months for developers to get all of their modules and templates working with it.

So as far as i see it, there really is no point in waiting for it.

Will the default modules like the store stop working or will those be kept alive?

Those are part of dolphin. Boonex handles the updates on those and will be part of 7.1

So as with any other update, they should continue to work.

I cannot tell you if it will work the same or not. Boonex is making a lot of changes to 7.1

Keep an eye of the notes boonex posts. They are posting previews there. http://www.boonex.com/notes/browse/featured

Yes, all current templates are broken in 7.1.  The template system was overhauled and both the layout and default classes were changed.

...  I'm sorry, Gorpus.

See. I knew i had a good reason as to why i stopped developing templates.

Actually, the constant changes in the forums that kept breaking the templates is the reason i stopped. But this is a good reason too.

Yea. I feel sorry for the guys like gorpus that have as many templates as they do.
