Dolphin 6.1 slow on shared hosting?

For ideal conditions, should Dolphin be hosted on dedicated servers or a VPS?

I think my current dolphin 6.1 installation is running very slow (on a shared reseller hosting account). If anyone else has the same experience I'd be very happy to hear about it.

Thanks!

I don't think there is anything wrong with starting on a shared hosting system, and then moving to dedicated hosting when your site is developed and gets more traffic.  Why don't you publish your link here, so we can see how fast or slow it is.

strange indeed, or i wonder if there is some key on this laptop that i have hit that has caused that. oh sorry for my rambling. loaded opera last nite, and i like the speed in which it moves, but if this persists with the reverse CRLF, i am goin to have to surrender it.

i wonder if this is opera that is reversing my CRLF, cuz when i hit the enter key, it feeds upwards instead of downward.

you are correct rob, there is nothing wrong with being on a shared server if the server does not get overloaded with accounts. i think what some of us have tested and proven is that you can take a server optmize it to run dolphin, limit the actual number of accounts, monitor the performance of the machine, upgrade if and when necessary, and all will run fine. the problem herein lies with overloading a shared server and then trying to run the dolphin script on it. understand that at any given time, shared hosting can have anywhere between 400 and 1000 accounts. of course you cant blame them, they are trying to utilize the equipment as economically as possible.

ha, that is funny, i can hit shift+enter and CRLF works correctly, i will have to investigate that. does anybody else use opera?

too weird. now back to my thoughts on shared hosting accounts. the other factors on running dolphin on a shared environment is the hardware configuration, as well as the software configuration. as stated if a server is configured and optmized to run the dolphin script, then there is nothing wrong with using a shared environment to start up dolphin, and see if its what you are looking, as there are not many who can afford 145 -275 for a testing ground to get a dedicated machine just to test a script that they are not sure if its going to work for them or not.

well that is my 2pence worth, and i am outta here again.
