Don't know if this is the type of thing you were looking to do, but I do recall Dolphin with this latest release (7.3) having the ability to maintain multiple databases.  So if you're looking to have one central data center for multiple sites, Dolphin may be able to help you out in this area.  I haven't checked into how Dolphin is able to pull this off, but I do remember the announcement in one of the recent blog posts.
