Do you like the Like in 7.3?

A new feature Like has been introduced in the latest 7.3 which is great but its procedure is not even good!

1. When the user clicks Like, the browser first sends the request to the server and after successful query it is then incrementing the count (I think). In the case of the slow internet, you will not get count increased so soon. And no one is going to wait for it, so either they will not click on it or they will think the feature is not working properly.

2. What should be: When the user clicks on Like, it should instantly increase the count then sends the query to the server in the background. If the user tries to close the browser meanwhile then they should be warned... There is a request to the server pending. Do you want to leave? All unfinished data will be lost!

3. When the user liked something and the like count is incremented by 1. There is no way to understand whether you have liked it or not. Because everything remains the same. The like button is still showing the same text Like. It should either change its color or it should show Unlike.

4. When the user liked something they can't unlike it! Why?

5. There is no Notification! Either via email or in the website notification!!!

Anyone want to say anything?

What do you say @AlexT?

Yes, I'd like to say something. In  all seriousness, it's about the most useless feature on any social media site. Who cares if people like something or not? It's so in-your-face facebook! Seriously, don't we have more important things to do? I certainly wouldn't wait while there is a request to the server pending. Most people wouldn't have a clue what it means anyway.

Thanks, I've said it.

Who cares if people like something or not?

Because to me and most people that use it, use it to let the posting party know it has been "seen" and looked at, like a receipt.

That's how it's used on FB by me.

It lets the content poster "know" who likes it so they share something in common, this is a social system.

If you don't like it, don't click.

I agree that we should at least know who liked the content posted.

I like the 3rd point and for the notifications you have to refresh the page Tongue Out I have created an issue in github to disable the option for public to Like any content.

Funny thing is on timeline you press the Like button but get the notification for Rated content. A lot of work need to be done on notifications. Each single notification should be clickable instead of hyperlinked photo, video etc.

And that annoying your name mentioning in the notifications make you feel like there is a 3rd person involved.
