Display block on non-Dolphin page

Ok, this may be really dumb - I will blame it on the fact that I am not quite awake yet.

I an going to be redesigning a site where I have installed Dolphin in a subdirectory.  The root directory is just plain old html.   Is there anyway other than iFrames to display blocks from the Dolphin site in the subdirectory on the root html page - for example the "news" block or maybe the "events" block.  Mostly I am just trying to get some ideas and an approach for my redesign right now.

Sorry, normally I wouldn't bump anything this soon but there is a project I am eager to get going on and need to decided which way to go.

Does anyone know if it is at least theoretically possible to include a Dolphin block on an html page that is in the same domain, but not part of the Dolphin block.  It must be - with Javascript perhaps?   Is there any easy method other than iframes?   - or is this something that would be really involved?

Any thoughts on this by the more technical folks would be appreciated.

I don't even think you can do it with a iframe.

The blocks are all generated dynamically on the fly while dolphin is generating the page. They are not designed to be rendered independently. I think it would take any developer a serious amount of time to figure out how to do what your asking outside of dolphin. Something would have to be built into dolphin that would be able to fetch the content of any block requested via a ajax call. But not only would you need the content of the block, you would need any javascript the block needs as well as any css to support it. Very tricky.

Deano - thank you.  I needed that information, even if it was not the answer I wanted.  Appreciate the response.
