This is the support forum for the Diary mod.

1. I wonder why a journal is not made public? At least the journal entry, there should be a block to put on the Profile, not just the one in the Dashboard... (or is there one and I'm not seeing it?) Right now, I think of copying Diary Entries block from the member.php to the profiles, with the proviso that members can limit the visibility themselves... but it is still two more clicks on top of what I'd like my members to do...

P.S.: And I don't see a way how to share journal and for example, birthdays, in the same block (in the above mentioned fix). Even to my faves, I want to share only journal entries, not my birthday entries or tasks - is there a way how to modify the member.php block to display only these (=journal entries)?

2. Is there a language key missing? What is __comments_count__ comments (please see attachment)? Or is it some part of the script not functioning properly and displaying only the section of the code?

Maybe I should mention I have Diary/Journal mod...

This is funny, I've founded a line about profile block in one of the php's. However, my profile has no such block, inactive or other. Furthermore, the remarks about rating diaries in the same php (not mentioning the exact name here, lol), does this mean members actually CAN see each other's diaries?  My members were complaining their diary or journal had not been made public - and I couldn't find out why... until now...? Lol...

Would it be possible for site builders (with instructions from you) to rebrand the Diary mod to "Journal".  I'm having a hard time selling the idea of adding a Diary feature on the website... especially to the guys.  But if I alternatively suggest a Journal both men and women are okay with it.  Note: the database table naming does not have to be changed... only interesting in visible indicators... titles, content, URLs, etc.

Alternatively you could offer buyers either the Diary or Journal version upon purchasing the module... with the expressed understanding that these to variations both use the same underlying database and code... so only one can be used at a time.  Warning that removing one variation to install the other will force a clean database start.

I just tried the Diary > Event feature.  I created an Event then invited two other site-members (1 regular member and 1 site admin).  Both member received the "invite" emails... but only the site admin could open the link to the  private Event page... not the regular member.   

I'm using Diary 2.0.1 with Dolphin 7.0.9

Now that I've tested the Diary module a few different ways I've come to realize it's private on purpose, i.e. each member has their own private "Diary" for personal info... and that actually makes good sense.  If members want to share their journal entries with other members then a better option would be to set them up with their own blog... on the site.

2) display the Event admin and all invited members that have accepted.

What is the point of totally private diary? Diary is a module that should optionally have a block for a profile page. I experimented with the member.php block but then, it was showing MY diary entries on various members profiles. Blog is a fine tool but I have few mwmbers writing their diaries every day and I really can't be forcing them to switch to blog, can I?

Will there be a 7.1 version of this?

Unlike ilkdom, I actually know that a Diary is by nature, a totally private journal, and this will be very useful on one 7.1 site I am building

Diary Module - This is now compatible with Dolphin 7.2 . For those upgrading from Dolphin 7.1, please check the upgrade folder for instructions.

To access the journal I go to Accounts and click the quick link to the journal.

Once there there is a user menu item "Journal Home".

Then from that point onwards within journal entries the Journal Home Menu has changed and just has a Menu item called "Main".

This means I have to keep going back to Account->Journal to see the main journal menu "Journal Home" (and its drop down items entries, tasks, events, brithdays etc).

When in an actual entry the menu has disappeared and just shows the "Main" menu with just one "Main" item that takes you to the main page of that entry and NOT to the Journale Home. And so have to keep going to the Account page.

Is there a way to change that menu item to the Journal Home? Or is this a fundamental Layer kind of issue?

@hawk007 - What you have described is the typical menu structure of all Dolphin modules. This is the way the Menu navigation system is built. If you look at the bottom breadcrumb on that page though, you will see a link to go back to the Diary homepage.
