Works fine so far - however, I would love to see the link to dialogs in the bottom menu Mail menu as well, because members can find it now only through the top main menu... and that's not enough, for those who are used to navigate by checking the new mail from the bottom menu.

Just out of curiosity, could this be done to Simple Messenger as well? I run 7.0.x and ESASE's version and kind of find the look of this much better than the standard chat window - not mentioning that Facebook did something very similar to their chat not long ago!

 Besides of an item in the top menu there is also a quick link in the quick links block of the My Account page.

To add an item to the member menu you can either use member menu builder and put the link as a separate item or if you wish to put it directly into the mail submenu then you have to edit the file templates/base/mail_box_member_menu_messages.html, find the code

    <div>
        <a href="<bx_url_root />mail.php?mode=compose">__go_compose__</a>
    </div>

and insert below it the code

    <div>
        <a href="<bx_url_root />m/aqb_dialogs/">Dialogs</a>
    </div>

after that don't forget to clean site's templates cache.

As to simple messenger's version - I believe yes, it can be done. We will think about it.

wow, I wish this was out when I was using dolphin! Too bad, but looks great! People should jump on this one.

Good work Anton.

Thank you Anton. I don't see Dialogs among the quick links in the Quick Links block, Account page. But it reminds me, I have Mail block underneath, maybe it would be great to have Dialogs link and stats there as well? As for the member menu (yes, I keep forgetting how these bits and pieces are called officially, lol), thanks for the tips, I'll try them. :)

The only drawback so far - if you see new dialogs and click to view, it doesn't make the unread messages read, so they still sit in the system waiting to be read (so one has to open ALSO the mail, either individual new messages or go to the inbox to tick them read). Would it be possible to trigger this "mark as read" function/ability for all the messages that are linked into the individual dialog (maybe automatically, maybe as a button at the top where compose message to this dialog is?)? So when one opens a dialog with a member X, all the unread messages from member X to me are marked read and stopped being shown as unread in the Mail (bubble)?

That would require to modify the dolphin's core files which we are trying to avoid. Also you can put the link to m/aqb/dialogs/ page anywhere in the top menu, or even create a page block with that link inside.

Actually any message can be marked as read by clicking the "New" icon of the message. We decided that for the dialogs page it is better not to mark all messages as read automatically when they are being shown on a page, because a member can easily miss some of them. We think it would be better to request a "confirmation" from a member that he has read the message.

Hello Anton, I just installed this mode works very well, except for me as admin, click "dialogs" opens a blank page with firefox, and leads to a 500 error with Iexplorer. It seems that it works well with all other members. Any idea?

Hello.  No any ideas. The module was installed on our demo site and tested using admin's account. No any problems were noticed.

Do you have some kind of an error log? Can you provide us with site access details (FTP and admin's account)?

Ok Anton, I found or the problem comes, I had more than 5000 mails, removing half it works now, so it had nothing to do with the admin. Laquestion is to know where the limit is not exceeded ..

 It is a pity you don't have any error logs. Without it it is hard to say where exactly that limit results in an error. From our point of view there shouldn't be any problems even with larger number of messages in the DB, unless there are too many dialogs (all 5000 messages are from/to different senders/recepients) and a memory_limit is lower than recommended by Boonex.

Yes this is the Anton case, I use a AutoMailer module sends an internal e-mail to each new member, their's birthday etc, so yes, they are almost all different recipient. I should be the only one in this case, it is not very serious, otherwise very good idea, thank you

Improvement idea for a future version: To maintain consistency between the original system and this mode, it would be nice:
1. Read the mails are automatically marked as read manually and not as is the case now. (click icon new)
2. The description of the email is completed automatically when you click reply, if made from dialog mode field, it remains empty and it must be completed manually, which is not practical for an answer.

Incidentally, it would also be nice to be able to select multiple dialogues to move the trash at once.

So this module is really on top. :-)

 1. We intentionally didn't implemented this, because on dialog page there possibly may be a few large messages and it is impossible to determine whether a viewer is actually read all of those messages. That is why we made it so a member must confirm that he had read the message.

2. Description? Do you mean "Subject"? It doesn't autofill, because dialogs module redirects to a default dolphin's compose page when you're hitting the Reply button, and that page do not accepts any parameters to autofill a Subject. So in order to achieve that it is necessary either to create a completely new compose page (price increase), or modify Dolphin's core files (possible installation problems). But we were trying to keep the module as simple as possible. May be in future there will be advanced version with more options and features.

Anton, I am not that informed on the Boonex internal e-mail system.  Is it possible to group emails by sent and replies so that if I sent Message One to Jenny and she replies and I replies and she replies and I reply, then that is grouped by itself; and then If I sent another email,  Message Two to Jenny and she replies and I replies and she replies, we see that group by itself separate from Message One?

In other words, I see in the Dialogues page; where I sent Message One to Jenny and see where I sent Message Two to Jenny and I can click view and only view the main message and replies just for Message One; and just for Message Two similarly.

Geeks, making the world a better place

 Not with the current messages database table structure.

In other words it is technically possible to implement your idea but that would require a few modifications of the Dolphin's core files which we are trying to avoid in the modules for the market.

In the mail inbox page, there are 2 tick boxes for letters and greetings - how can these greetings to be displaying in the dialogs with the letters?

Thanks

This is my signature, there are many like it but this one is mine...

I also notice that messages sent by my Modzzz modules are displayed in the mail inbox page but not in dialogs - how can this be changed?

Thanks

The module was designed and tested only with Dolphin's messages. And a greeting isn't considered as a part of a dialog. Probably the same way the messages sent by a 3rd party module are having a different type, other than just a letter. Anyway if you wish to try to remove that restriction and see how it works/looks then you have to edit the file modules/aqb/dialogs/classes/AqbDialogsDb.php, and replace all occurrences of a string

`Type` = 'letter'

with

1

When a person goes into their mail, is there anyway we can make Dialogs the 'Default' option, rather than having to select it from the right menus?

 It depends on how a person goes into their mail on your site. If it is just a top menu link the you can change it to "m/aqb_dialogs/".
