Developers who just Are Not Good

This is the last straw I will allow anyone from dolphin mess with any of my websites. I told him that I did not use ftp and that was for good reason. This guy trys to create a ftp account and deletes my dang website!! This site really has some bad people on here.

I got refunded my money but this is just bad business. I know this one message probably wont affect nothing but im just really disappointed with 99% of the people who I have worked with from here.

I would not let this dude work one your site if I was you. This is a warning. Believe it or not.

I never let anyone touch a production site; even if they are experts with 20 years experience.  Anyone can do an oops.  In the future, create a test site for this type of work; a test site going down is no lost.

I mean the most important thing is to regular backups..anything can happen with anyone. As a developer I would not even touch a site if it were not backed up.

Every mod should have that built in warning...Backup Before doing anything,

thank you guys for your advise and I will take that under consideration for sure. my developer got my site back up thankfully because i did have back ups but still though, that "ohh shi*t factory was still there and really had me very angry. but thank you though.

I wouldn't expect  to delete a site on purpose, so this was certainly an unfortunate accident.  I'm glad to see you had backups, or else this would have been really bad!

I prefer FTP as well. Most ALL hosting has it. I am sure your basing your decision on using it or not based on what you read on the internet. Much of it untrue.

In 5 years of working with dolphin i have never trashed someones site. But accidents do happen even to the best of us. So yes, always keep backups.

Everyone I've dealt with wanted FTP access too. It really is much simpler. So I set it up and trust them. Read their feedbacks and reviews, you'll get a good feel. I do however rsync my whole site and DB backup before anyone is scheduled to do customizations.

Shit happens, I've rm -rf my own site before thinking... I've got it somewhere else and didn't. Needless to say, I lost a good high volume site.

I do not personally perfer FTP. But you know to each they own. but i have to stick to my guns about not working with anyone else from this site, this is not the first time this has happen. the last person who i worked with on here tried to even blackmail me by removing all my files, whiping my system clean and then sent me a email talking about " send me 5,000 and ill send you your files back".

I am tired of getting ripped off and not getting the right work done.

You should have probably reported that other fellow so we can look into banning them...

 The development site is the ONLY way to try new things!

Just block all of china and most of russia with .htaccess.

I'm getting 100's of hits a day on my dev site trying to join and post crap.  Funny, they get a 403 error and still try!

Natan in the past when it has did me no good in reporting people on here because nothing is done. I have reported 2 people on here for not delivering work which I paid for and nothing was done. so its cool. just not doing it again.
