Deleting pictures in Moxie also in forum

I just noticed that when you delete a photo in moxie manager, it also disappears in forums posts, it does not seem logical to me ...

It should seem logical, you delete the source and everywhere you added that image using an image tag will no longer be able to display the image.  Haven't you seen all of the photobucket tags that this image is no longer available?  Images are not embedded into the document, they are linked.

No, but I speak of pure logic, no coding.

For me if you want to remain consistent with the rule that you can no longer edit a post after x minutes, it should not work like that.

Member tags and will not look clean their pictures when there will be too much as it is presented as a mini personal storage space.

After that the topics based on an image will no longer have meaning and with me there are many.

It is moreover well why not deleted image when a member leaves the site I think.

Why would you expect a photo that you deleted, to still appear everywhere?  All media within a Dolphin website is stored as files.  The solution is simple... don't delete the damn photos.

I would have to agree with above. The Moxie Manager is nothing no more than a directory to store media. Delete something, it's gone.. done

Another scenario is say, you have a photo in your 'My Pictures' on your computer that you use for your background wallpaper.. Delete that photo and see what happens  Sealed

Nothing to see here

My PC does not become useless if the background disappears, a photography topic yes, I have 20 members who test my site, many have reported this problem and I do not understand this logic to forum. I can explain to 20 members that should not delete pictures in moxie manager, but 12,000 people it's more complicated ...

While your reasoning is understood, it is not the typical way that most people think - in my eyes.

Using your reasoning:

I have a topic about Bluebirds. Within this topic, I have several images of bluebirds, or maybe only one image in several locations. First off, I can not think of a reason that I would want to delete an image that is the basis of my posts or supports my posts? In the off chance that I am forced to because of something like copyright infringement - then all references to the image must be removed anyway.

In an effort to get this across to all of your users - you could add a simple note somewhere that states "If you delete the original image, all references to image will be removed as well"

You could use the old way of your users attaching a photo, saving the forum topic, editing the forum topic, click on add to post if you like.

OK, one more time.

You want to insert a photo in a forum post:

1. You upload the photo to your server via TinyMCE/Moxiemanager

2. The image is placed into the forum post using the <img> tag that references the image url on your server with the 'src attribute, src meaning 'source..... in other words, where are we getting this image.  If you want to have an image in a forum post, is has to come from somewhere.  If you delete the image source, where is it you think it should come from?

This is the way inserting images into websites has worked since the beginning of time.  There are some good free html tutorials on the web.  If the above process confuses you, you should consider having a look at some of those tutorials
