Delete processing video HELP

Long story short.  I uploaded a video which was probably too large.  The ffmpeg app started processing it on my shared server environment and crushed their performance.  They suspended me.  I got unsuspended and was looking for a way to delete the problem video which shows up in the "processing" section of the video admin panel.  But there are no file deletion options there.

ffmpeg started up again.  I got suspended again.  Host is pretty pissed by this point.

Got unsuspended, went into file manager and deleted the four mysteriously named files which appear to be related to my uploaded video.  They only have the number "2" as the file name.  No hint of any connection to the actual file name.

I didn't want to delete the files this way but I had no choice because I kept getting suspended.  And now, just as I feared, there is a "phantom" job in the processing section of the video admin.  Some kind of a place holder is still in there which obviously used to point to the uploaded files, but did not get deleted because I had to delete the files from the back end.

Two questions.

Was there a better cleaner way to delete this processing video?

What do I do now to get that thing out of there?

Thanks,

Also, is there a way to upload videos such that they didn't need processing?  What if I convert it to an flv before I upload it.  Can it be available immediately without starting up ffmpeg?

Thanks,

D
