Default Memberships Support Forum

This is the support forum for my new module. Default Memberships. http://www.boonex.com/m/default-membership

This module is currently designed for dolphin 7.1.0 only. Older dolphin versions are not yet supported.

Dolphin defaults to either Promotional Membership if enable promotional membership is enabled, or to standard if it is not.

But what if you want to set a different default membership?

Well with this module you can.

This module will allow you to set a different default membership level for each login method your site has. For example lets say you want to use a membership named Trial for anyone signing up using the normal join form. Well it's now as easy as going into the module, selecting the Trial membership and enabling Dolphin Join form as the signup method to be that methods default membership level.

You could easily do the same thing if your had a membership level named Facebook and you want all signups that occur via facebook connect to be assigned that membership level.

Five different login methods are currently supported.

1) The Dolphin Join Form.
2) Boonex Facebook Connect.
3) Deanos Facebook Connect.
4) Deanos Google Connect.
5) Globalweb Soundcloud Connect.

Others can be added. Instructions on how to log and submit a request are included in the instructions.

NOTE: This is not a payment mod or payment gateway and the type of module it is it will not be able to do that. So even tho the module will show you all membership types you have configured you obviously do not want to assign a paid membership as a default membership level.

Will you also be adding support for your Yahoo Connect module as well?

Which Social Connect method do people tend to use most: Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, Twitter or Yahoo?

I'm considering this module to make different membership levels. What if someone uses multiple social log-ins? Can all your connect modules work together?

Have you thought about creating an all-in-one connect Module or is it too complicated?

If not, do you offer a bundle price if someone were to purchase Default Membership, Deanos Facebook Connect, Deanos Google Connect, Deanos LinkedIn Connect, Deanos Twitter Connect and Deanos Yahoo Connect?

Another thing I'm wondering, if someone signs in one day with Facebook and another day with LinkedIn or Twitter, would system point to the same profile?

Eventually yes.

Facebook is the most used.

They function independently but will connect to the same dolphin account if the match by email address option is on, and they happen to use the same email address with each social network. However, some social networks such as Twitter does not pass a email address as part of the API. Without it, there is no way for the mod to know an account exists already.

Janrain used to exist in the market which provided a all in one solution. So it was not considered. As these modules are designed to be independent, combining them now is not possible.

I do not.

It was answered above. As this.

They function independently but will connect to the same dolphin account if the match by email address option is on, and they happen to use the same email address with each social network. However, some social networks such as Twitter does not pass a email address as part of the API. Without it, there is no way for the mod to know an account exists already.

To add to that. Keep in mind that there is no way for each social network to know that the member already signed up on your site. The mods use email addresses as a match to help resolve that, but as mentioned, Twitter does not provide one.

Eventually a feature will be added to stop and ask them during signup if they already have an account on this site. At the moment tho, that option is not available.

However i will point out that it is quite rare for that to occur. I never has on my site. When people use one network to connect, they tend to continue using the same one.

Yes they do. Nothing i can do about that tho. I have no control over their sign-in process.
