If you are still getting that with the new version.

Do the following.

1) Uninstall the module.
2) Remove folders from modules/deano/deanos_facebook_connect. Remove all folders except the backup folder.
3) Upload new one.
4) Create a new facebook app. Do not use the previous keys just incase that is what the problem is.

pm me your site URL so i can see if i get the same problem.

I can also send your some temperory keys to try so we can see if the problem is on the facebook side with the app.

Hi,

I own the module. Perhaps I can help and let him rest.

What version of Dolphin is this? Has it ever worked for you?

If this is your first time setting up I can help with that.

The errors, are they from the popups on your site? Maybe post a screenshot.

i am running 7.10 no it's never worked has always come up with that error

That error means facebook is not able to set the cookies for the access token.

A lot of times that is just a incorrect setting on the facebook side. Site URL or Site domain are the two most common setting problems. If your site is not useing www for example, then the config on the facebook side cannot either as doing so will mess up the cookies.

Yea. I noticed.

You may have a problem that i will be unable to fix.

I will need FTP access as well. I have to upload a test script to make sure your hosts version of curl is operating properly.

Sorry. All tests i have done have passed.

I cannot find a reason for the failure.

Looks like i will have to issue a refund for this one.

One final question. Is there a proxy server or anything like mod_security or other form of securly software running? It's the only remaining thing i can think of is something is blocking facebook in some manner.

I will check on the mod security. if it's installed I will uninstall and see if that helps

Quote · 14 Nov 2012

yup mod security was loaded i am unloading now and we will see

Quote · 14 Nov 2012

o.k. mod security has been uninstalled and same problem. Should I install boonexs facebook and see if that one works?

Quote · 15 Nov 2012

You could try it.

If it works. I can just issue you a refund for the purchase. I have no idea why it will not run on your site. I have sold hundreds of copies, and have only been unable to get it to run on 3 servers. Cause was never found.

At least your running d7.1  The 7.0.9 version of FB connect no longer works.

Yes, that one is hosting. Curl is not compiled with https support, or support is disabled, or openssl not installed, or something. In any case that is a hosting issue with curl.

Curl more than needs to be present which will pass dolphins requirement check, but facebook requires that curl be able to communicate securely via the https protocol.

But check the dolphin host tools audit page. Perhaps is may show something up with curl or SSL.

Also see this topic. http://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Test-script-for-curl-fopen-and-gethostbyname.htm

There is a test script there you can use. It will perform server tests of things that need to work for facebook connect to properly work.

Here are some suggestions:

You should recheck you Facebook application settings.

You should recheck you Facebook application settings.

I gave him a app key and secret key from a app i setup myself to test with. Still the same problem.

Only conclusion i can come up with is it's at the server. Either internal clock is wrong, or unusual security software, or a proxy in the way. Something i cannot figure out.

OK, I have access to the WHM, I looked down the Apache configuration to rebuild, but all looked great..

I'm going back now to check the things you just listed..

[edit] server time has been synced.
