Date of Birth

I can't seem to track this one down, but, somehow members are signing up and/or updating their profile, and the birthdate is getting set to 00/00/0000

My age mode shows this as as 'unknown'. Even though you can see these members on the home page members block, you can't see them on the browse.php page.  Anyone know why this is happening?  It seems to be only on about 10 percent of the new membersw that are signing up. (we are averaging about 40 new members a day)

Hi Sammie,

I guess my post was unclear.  I don't see that there is anyway to enter the date except through the DHTML calendar.  I guess it could be that this is not working properly on some people's computers.

For now I have made an addition to the Admin->Users->Members page so that I have an additional sortable column showing DateOfBirth.  This way my customer can at least bring all the "00/00/0000" members to the top of the list in his admin panel and send these individuals an email.

Quick fix, but my client (and I, as well) would like to know if there is an issue or a fix for this.

Your members can hand enter the digits or click the calendar to do it.  If they get frustrated or just don't want their DOB showing then many will do this.  Now, you can input a check code into join.php & pedit.php to check the birthdate and ensure it's not 00/00/0000 but I don't know what the exact process for it would be.  I'm sure someone can toss this one out there though.

I am also having the same problems as well. It seems that when selecting the DOB via the DHTML calendar, if they off click or something the calendar zeros out whatever was selected. I'd love to hear if anyone has a fix around this. I'd love to ditch the calendar, and jsut have three drop down boxes, mm / dd / yyyy ?

I will keep looking as well.

I always wondered about this as i have a few members who seem to have zero birthdays and i thought they were doing it on purpose as a way to get around the private profile mod i have on which only works if there is a date of birth under 75. What ive been doing is going into peoples profiles and setting the birthdays for them if they had 00/00/0000. Its not right but it works.
