How many connections allowed your SQL? 3, 5? :)

need expand it. Possible another hosting plan, etc.

.. or you can clean all current  connections  (seems somewhere in phpMyAdmin)

shared host give unlimited this unlimited that and unlimited the other, they also never mention that you are limited to how many datbase connections or quires you are allowed in an hour, so you never get to use the unlimited things they offer. live and learn

Yea....I tried the reverse lookup for my URL to see if it is shared or dedicated. (In my control panel at ixwebhosting.com it states that this URL is on a dedicated server)

The lookup shows that it is indeed a dedicated server.

I keep getting this email about too many connections and here is what my host told me:

I went back to them again and asked why if I have a dedicated server for my domain is my database on a shared server?

And how many questions am I allowed?

Is there a way to test how many databases reside on a server?

mysql401.ixwebhosting.com

So....when you see your url is on a dedicated server....it doesn't mean that the database is on that same server...

If you are paying less than say $100mth you are on a shared server.

Generally speaking, the databases will be on the same server.

Lorren,

I am sure you have dedicated IP confused with dedicated server  .....  (not the same)

AFAICT this company doesn't even offer VPS or dedicated hosting and they are DEFINITELY not vps or dedicated for $12.95 and under  .....

IXWebhosting was my old host and they had me looking for tall buildings to jump from.  Register Globals is on, they will not change it for any reason, DOSDAWG can confirm this as he spent a lot of time for free talking with my supposed experts trying to get my hacking woes fixed.  I would really run and do not look behind you from IX.

Thanks Tally for the input...I have left them for a VPS elsewhere. (I didn't have any hack probs as I added and edited through the php.ini file).
