We have had our DNS setting set up for a couple years now, but we keep getting blacklisted/blocklisted due to incorrect return DNS setting and they think we are spammers.
Do we have any Email DNS experts out there who would be willing to help me make sure we are set up correctly?
Thanks In Advance,
Mel

To set up an rDNS, reverse DNS, you need to contact your provider of the IP address unless they provide a rDNS entry as part of your DNS settings. I had one provider where they set up the rDNS and another provider had it as part of the form for setting up the DNS entries. Geeks, making the world a better place |
My provider is the one that set it up incorrectly and he's not sure how to correct it. |

That doesn't sound right. Just tell them they need to set the IP addrss to use the server's hostname.

Do you have an MX record in your DNS? Geeks, making the world a better place |
MX record? That I have no clue about, I let my host do it all. When he set it up the first time "the supposed easy way" it didn't work and he had to do something different. now I'm getting email service companies blacklisting me because they say the return path doesn't go back to a named server or is different from the original path. It leads them to think that I am sending spam. |

A proper MX record and rDNS should help with the blacklist and blocking. If you are running your own mail server, you should have an MX record for the mail server. What kind of server setup are you using, are you using cPanel or what. We really don't have enough information to guide you.

If the return DNS is the issue, there is nothing we can do. This is an issue that needs to be addressed by your hosting provider. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
If you have set up a mail server and have an mx record for it, such as mail.mysite.tld, then set the rDNS to point to mail.mysite.tld. If you are using a mail server provided by your hosting, then we need to know that as that mail server may be used by others that are hosting with your host provider.
