'Categories' is something that is very complicated, the whole structure is very messy with all those categories, also the menu is so complicated and not constructed very well. |
I'm just trying to understand what purpose is served. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Boonex felt that you were starting to slack in your questions lately, it has been noticed that your daily question ratio has greatly reduced over the past 2 months and thus they added this item in hopes it would prompt you to increase your questions again.
So, did you find a shade tree yet Houston? |

There's a menu tab called 'Categories' in D7 Beta1. I'd post a link to my test site, but the last time I did that, It brought all the spammers and hacker wannabes to the site. I have no idea what this is supposed to do, or how it does it. My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Whenever you post content on a Dolphin site it can be put into a category, either created by webmaster or a user (normally webmaster). The main Categories tab shows all categories for all types of content, and once you hit a category you can see all the content in it. This is not a major feature, just yet another browsing option, which is mostly useful for search engines. Look, you want your site to rank in search engines for a phrase like "French fries"... create a category namd that way and users will put their content into it, accordingly. Voila - via Categories you have a "hub" page with tops of different relelvant content. The page is also properly interlinked from many pages of your site with a nice 'anchor text' - your got your perfect SE-optimized landing page. Heart Head Hands |
Makes sense, but I'll probably remove it from the navigation menu until there's enough content to make it look like something. I think I'll call it something besides categories... maybe 'Montage' My opinions expressed on this site, in no way represent those of Boonex or Boonex employees. |
Try to have some cultural sensitivity unoboonex - they call them "Freedom Fries" in Texas. I do like the category concept though. |
