Custom link - header / status bar

Hi folks,

I have a question concerning the integration of a custom link.

I want to integrate it

a) either in der header of the page

b) or in the status bar (dont't know the exact expression for the bar) , where the status of a logged in member is displayed and the icon for messages, friends and the shopping cart.

Can anyone give me a hint where to integrate the custom link for the two options?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

Stefan

Are you talking about Members Menu?

Here is a link to see if that is what you are talking about:

https://YOURDOMAIN/administration/member_menu_compose.php?menu_position=top_extra

If so just add a new item and edit the settings for that item..

Thanks a lot TruckingSpace! Cool

Sometimes it is as simple as that.

I could create a custom link, but unfortunately the icon I use (not part of the icons which come with boonex) is not displayed. When I hover the link with the mouse it says there is a link, but it does not show the icon although it is a valid link to a picture.

Do I have to use icons which are delivered by boonex? Or can I use my own pics?

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

Stefan

If you want to use your own icons. upload them to a folder. Let say we make our own images folder. Then inside that folder I make another folder called icons. I will upload all my icons to that folder. I made the icons 32px X 32px in size. I know in some templates you might need to make 2 sizes. one for the Pictures and one for the icons. I had the picture one way to big at 32px so I made it 12px and renamed it with a _sm before the .png and it fit fine. I uploaded photo.png image and video.png image to my icons folder.

I then go put in the URL to the images I want to use.

So in my photos in the Icon I put: https://DOMAINNAME/images/icons/|photo.png

and picture I put: https://DOMAINNAME/images/icons/|photo_sm.png

Then in videos for picture and icon I put: https://DOMAINNAME/images/icons/|video.png

and picture I put: https://DOMAINNAME/images/icons/|video_sm.png

Make sure you put the | before the image file or it will not work and show blank.

Hope that helps everyone to add there own images in.
