Connection Error - Click OK to reconnect

I seem to be getting this error when:

- Trying to post a video comment

- Trying to record a video

The webcam is still displaying behind the error. Webcam displays fine in chat and IM as well.

Anyone else?

Thanks,

Chris

Thanks for taking me here, Zarcon!  I'm currently using arvix and I have the same problem!  We're "supposed" to download RMS RC to get this work (i assume) so I'm guessing Arvix doesn't have RMS RC or isn't ready for it yet. :/

The problem I have:

When I click comment video, my webcam goes on and I can see myself just fine.  When I clic record, it says "Connection Error. Click okay to reconnent."

Oh Yeah. I get those too. I tried to add a HTML block and screwed my site big time. Not real sure how or if they plan on fixing the Possible Attack errors.

I mean, if you are going to give us the option to HTML block, then let us add HMTL code to it. I think, that if you are logged in as an Administrator, you should be able to do anything you want to your site.

I hope they fix that as well Eli.

Yeah I got this stupid "possible attack" thing.  it's #1 annoying bug!   I decided to trash them all and start over again. This time i downloaded a different security script from http://www.mediafire.com/?hciyinnjn20 and replaced it in /inc folder.  I did this BEFORE installation.  I don't know what will happen if you do this AFTER installation. :/  So far i don't have any attack thing popping up.  I did a lot of editing and still no problems.

I didn't say it was a solution or fix.  It's less problem than i had before and it's working just fine.  That's the best I could do for now til the next update.  Why don't you smack my head and tell me your better solution, houstonlively.  ha

Someone should smack the idiot that posted that so-called fix in the blogs.  It is NOT a fix, and it is NOT a different security script.  It's the same file with all the security code commented out.  All it's going to do, is hinder real problems from being discovered and fixed.

That's right , it's not a fix at all , i did try it befor it doesn't help with the Facebook Fan widget ...

Am going to be patient and wait for the real fix to come out .

Peace and bread.

Are you using new RMS for D70 ? or old RMS from D6.1.x ?

What you mean "stand alone RMS package" ? Is it old RMS server for 6.1.6 or new for Dolphin 7.0 ?

If you are using old RMS it may be that some things like chat will work because chat wasn't changed a lot since 6.1.x, but other things was changed a log and old RMS server will not work for them.

OK, so I guess I'm on the same boat as well...

I am with Arvixe and webcam works fine but when I click the record button - I too get that connection error.

So, as per your discussions I would need an RMS set up...hmmm...never did that before, let me see where i can download and install an RMS now....

Hey AlexT, I have my RMS that is integrated with my webhost (JoomByte) with a hosting package specifically designed for Dolphin sites. Can you tell me what has changed for RMS in Dolphin 7? If so, I could ask them and see if their RMS is capable of handling D7 or advise them what needs to be upgraded.

Thanks

That's the exact thing Arvixe told me as well...they added my site but when I said it's not working as the RMS is old and they need to update it, they said they will do it only once D7 stable build is released....

So that would probably mean another month or so...who knows !!!!

I am thinking to install RMS on my server and give it a try, don't know it would work or not .. let's see !!!

Quote · 24 Nov 2009

I contacted my host as well, they didn't say one way or the other, however they did say bear with them while security measure were put into place. I presume that they could have possibly disabled a php function I need or something.

All other RMS modules work except for video record, so I'm not gonna fret too much, but I do hope they fix it soon.

Wow.  So this is my issue with JoomByte as well.  I wish I had known that they were using the old RMS when I signed up.  All I needed was the RMS hosting, and now half of my apps work, and half don't.  :)

Does anyone here know of a host that actually has an up to date RMS running?

Quote · 25 Nov 2009

I'm using Arvixe. I talked to them about the problem i have and they said it's because they are still using the old RMS. They prefer to install the new RMS when Dolphin 7 is out, not dolphin 7 RC2.  It's quite annoying.  :(

Quote · 25 Nov 2009

Well for me as stated earlier, all of my apps work except for video recording and whiteboard. I do not want to give JoomByte a bad name just because those 2 do not work. D7 is still new and in early release stages. I'm sure that when it has become a "final" version, they will do what needs to be done.

I have been extremely happy with them so far, so I plan on staying and holding it out. I don't HAVE to have those 2 apps for my site to run. Didn't have it on my previous 6.1.4, and it won't kill me not to have it on this one for a little bit.

What JoomByte just told me is that they have thousands of users that are not using D7, and if they provide the latest RMS, all of those users will be "dead in the water".  So they aren't going to do it.  Their suggestion?  Seriously: rent one of their dedi's starting at $249/mo. and install it myself.

I'm just thinking... not all of those "thousands of users" are going to be upgrading to D7, so what is JoomByte going to do?  Either never implement the latest RMS, or at some point alienate those D6.x users by upgrading.  I don't think they want either of those options, so why not just install the latest RMS on a separate server for D7 users, and why not go ahead and do it now, since they have to do it at some point anyway?

I had to specially install whiteboard itself to get it to work.

It's all in how your setup with RMS, you must have it enable to leave video comments.

It works on all my sites using an RMS server.

Look at this page, http://www.duvallocals.info/m/videos/view/BoonEx-Dolphin-7-Smart-Community-Builder

it's the boonex demo video with video comments included.

I see this topic is several years old but never seems to have been resolved. I really can't tell from the previous post exactly what is the fix.

This is a top of the line dedicated server with fresh download of Dolphin installing nicely till now.

When leaving a video comment, I can see the video on screen, web cam is sending, but upon hitting 'Record' - it says Connection Error and fails? Sorta un-nerving to see how long this problem has been here.

This isn't a "bug" so there really isn't anything for Boonex to fix. This is an error message letting you know the site can't connect to your RMS (Ray Media Server, a variation of Red5 media server). You either:

1. Don't have RMS installed on your server

2. Don't have RMS installed correctly or it's an old version of RMS

3. Don't have the admin settings in "Flash apps" setup with the correct connection info (IP, port etc).
