Confusing Blog Description

A description is required to start a blog, but its functionality is unclear to beginners. Most people would take it as the form used to submit the actual blog posts, since the text field features TinyMCS. It was annoying especially when a user tries to submit a long blog post and gets an prompt of nothing more than a red icon, which, unless you move your mouse cursor over, it wouldn't even tell you "Error Occurred."

After a few tries, I figured that it was due to the length of the text I was trying to submit. Why on earth would a TinyMCS editor be required for just a short description for your blog? Why not just use a single-line text field that has a maximum length of 100 characters?

BoonEx, please fix it ASAP. Thanks!

Why would anyone confuse a description field with that of the actual blog content area? Though I do agree, TinyMCE is being used in too many places where it shouldn't. Such as everywhere.

Even so, it's hard for some users to know the reason for the failure to submit the description is due to its length, while there is no implied or mentioned limitations.

I hit the wrong key and didn't notice it. And BoonEx is liable for the same mistake.

When creating a blog, the description block is clearly labeled with its purpose. Right next to the box in clear, readable text are the words "* Description:." As such, there is no reason to add any more notices, as what has been placed already is more than sufficient. This is not a bug.

But how do you know about the length limit? Even if the description's over the limit, there is no clear explanation of why the submission fails. All you get to see is a red exclamation point with a floating message saying "Error Occurred," which, most don't know what it refers to.

At the very least, if you can guide me to the right direction as how I can change the TinyMCE to a simple text field, it will be greatly appreciated.

I thought about writing a ticket for this, but I just couldn't get myself to do it.  There's just too many other things the Boonex coders need to be working on that far outweigh the importance of this.

Maybe someone will be nice enough to add a real time display of the remaining character count to this particular text area, using a jquery plugin like this one: http://plugins.jquery.com/project/NobleCount

The minified js is only 1.6 kb, so it's pretty light weight.  Looks like it would just take a little bit of code added to /modules/boonex/blogs/classes/BxBlogsModule.php
