Clearing cache manually vs Admin home page

Thought clearing cache manually, i.e.,:

  • Deleting all files within the /cache directory (except for the .htaccess file)
  • Deleting all files within the /cache_public directory

was equivalent to clicking Clear Cache links on the Admin Home page (see attached image). After a recent test, this doesn't seem to be the case, at least not consistently.

Does anyone know what the Clear Cache links on the Admin Home page do?

Thanks!

They clear the cache. But not all of it aparently. Boonex does not have a list anywhere that i know of that states whats NOT cleared. But it also differs between dolphin versions.

The admin cache cleaning system All is misleading, it leaves behind DB, global settings and profiles. So "All" really only does templates data. You need to click the other buttons to actually get rid of all of it. If developing..who has time, just clean it yourself so you see it actually blank

7.0.8 and above now includes .htaccess files in both /cache and /public_cache

make sure you leave both files in the folders.

This is a tutorial video on how to manually clean your cache folders via cPanel.
