The search on D7 is vastly inferior to what D6 had - the famous "null field" issue for one, and I still see no indications that there are any plans to fix this on 7.1. I have put up without it, event though it was absolutely key to one of my sites, but am still having trouble even with simple workarounds.
One thing I have on one of my business sites is a checkbox list of about 30 "industries" where registrants can select multiple industries that describe their business. On the search, however, I want this to be a simple dropdown selector field. If I change it on the search to "selector" however, it also changes it on the join form - which really seems like a bug or poor design to me.
Is there any way around this?
