Chat rooms not querying properly in mysql

Hi I have to report a problem, I am having major issues with my websites chat system.

The problem that presents is when any one (visitor, member or admin) goes to the website and goes to the chat rooms, they can not type in the typing box, no room names are present nor is any room description.

I am hosted through TMD who are fantastic with there support. They have fixed this issue by reloading every day for a week now.

It seems once we get it working again within 12-24 hrs if you visit the site again the problem is back.

TMD did some investigating and replied:

We have examined the problem down to its core now, thus the delayed reply. The behavior of Dolphin, which you have been getting -- a chat window, in which you are unable to type, without any rooms and nothing further was recreated successfully on our side, both as administrator and a visitor. When we have advanced further into testing the problem, we have dug into the Dolphin's MySQL database, in order to find out that it contains records of chat rooms, but the flash script responsible for the chat is not querying them properly. In practice, when a new room is created, afterwords, both registered and unregistered user was able to join and chat into it.

We have now removed manually (by deleting directly from the MySQL database) the chat rooms you have had created and recreated them anew.
Upon recreating them, the MySQL database is being queried properly and it builds the rooms correctly. This appears to be a bug into the Dolphin software, which I am afraid we are not sure we have managed to resolve permanently or we have just managed to "trick" it now.

However it didn't work and sure enough when I visited the website later it was 'broken' again.

Any suggestions or help on this problem would be greatly appreciated. The website is used as a free non-profit online community to help people living alongside Autism. We would love to have the chat rooms working so parents and carers can chat to each other for support and strength.

Your help would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Using current 7.0.5 but was also happening on 7.0.4 before the upgrade.

I am also with TMD Hosting, and I cant fault them with their support.

I reported an issue where my chat room keep disappearing...

Mark Drabble || Client 10/03/2011 17:00

I am currently using Dolphin 7.0.4 and over the last 3 days I have noticed the rooms on Dolphin AV Chat keep disappearing when no users are present.

In order for me to get the rooms to reappear enter the RMS settings with Dolphin and simply click on Save.

Can you tell me if there is an issue with the RMS server or if any settings have been changed.

Many thanks

Hello Mark,

Thank you for contacting TMDHosting Technical Support Team!

We have had couple of similar issues in the past couple of days, I regret to inform you. Since nothing has changed on our side, neither RMS nor server configuration, all our attempts to resolve the problem were not successful. At this point we have found out the issue to be sorted out by couple of restarts of the RMS server and having the Customer clear its browser's cache. This is not a permanent solution, however and we think the issue is related to the Dolphin software itself.

I am afraid, however, that it is not being part of our programming assets and is being operated by another company/team of developers. This is why, you should inquire them on the issues you are experiencing with their product, because it is beyond our scope to track down programming issues on third party products.

Of course, if you are proposed with some solution by them, which we can be of any assistance with, please kindly let us know so we can further get to proceed and do our best to solve your issue.

Best Regards,

Brandon Fiery
