Chat not loading - RMS is all checking out ok - confusion ensues

Chat was working just fine. I've changed absolutely nothing on my site in several days. Suddenly chat isn't loading. It's just sitting there with the spinning loading wheel.

I double checked the flash app settings, everything's kosher, nothing's changed in the settings that would indicate a problem.

I searched the forums and the magical google genies and found lots of nothing.

I contacted my host to have them check the RMS servers. Everything looked fine. I had them reboot the servers anyway b/c I saw something in my searches that could fix it. Nothing. They said it is something with the software.

So on the off chance that someone's encountered this problem and found a solution... here  I am. Anyone?

can you confirm or deny that chat will load if you untick Use RMS?

 

the RMS you are using is this on a dedicated machine and you are the sole user of the RMS? if that is the case, then have another domain name added to  the access.dat file and see if you get the same result with the failed connection. what you are seeing there is that RMS is not able to connect.

 

in your base settings for RMS where the checkbox is at for opting to Use RMS or not, after you have confirmed that chat loads when RMS is unticked, then tick Use RMS and hit save, you should get a notification if AV chat is able to connect to RMS.

 

if text chat loads, then you need to inform  your hosting company, that there is not a problem with the script, there is a problem with the RMS

1. RMS needs to be restarted, RMS is prone to hang up, and appear to be running as a process but chat cannot connect to it, no clue on that one.

2. some genius has taken steps to secure your server from either end, and shut down a port you were needing open for RMS to function.

 

do you have any other flash app that requires RMS?

message me your domain, and dolphin version, we can test on THS RMS, and see if you get the same results?

Hi, I'm on Arvixe hosting using there shared RMS and none of my flash app are completely loading. I have the port and ip set, and the chat has loaded in the past, but have never seen the boards load. Any ideas on a remedies to this issue? Thanks.
