Chat+ is a POS

The more I work with the whole Chat+ and Mongo crap the more I realise it is a POS; both of them.

The idea that one has to shell into their server, enter the mongo shell, and then write a script to delete a room is just stupid beyond imagination.  Most of the sites using Dolphin and UNA don't have a full time sys-admin.  Are they suppose to hire a sys-admin for something as simple as removing a room from the Chat?  Why in hades isn't removing a room a feature from the Chat+ admin interface?  You can add a user to the database for Chat+ but not remove a room.

I just trashed the whole thing apparently for the simple act of trying to add remote access with authentication so that a non sys-admin might could remove a room without having to go through the whole mess of shelling in.

With MySQL/MariaDB there are some really slick GUI applications.  With MongoDB the GUI applications aren't much better than the mongo shell.  I wonder why that is?  Command line is good, I use it very often in managing the server but it is also very easy to accidentally type something wrong that will cause you a world of hurt.  You certainly don't want anyone that is not a sys-admin shelling in and typing something on the command line; for example, you certainly don't want to type rm -rf / and hit the enter key. Bye Bye server.

If you can add a room through Chat+, then you should be able to remove a room.  None of this mongo shell BS, just admin logs in, list rooms, check mark the room to be removed, click on submit.  Bam done.

I thought maybe I was just missing something but no, go to rocket.chat site and search on remove room.

For what it's worth:

A site I use has this Chat installed and it sees to work fine. They have about 200 users on board at any time, but as users can be in multiple chat rooms, the actual amount may only be 30 to 50.

At $250 (unlimited) it's not cheap, but it does work. I won't be using it because a colleague's site with 800 plus members never had more than one person in his Boonex chat room at any given time. It's a bit hard to talk with yourself!

Comments would be appreciated however.
