Chat+ Username

Not a bug.

The current way that a username is setup in the Chat+ is to provide a name, with the ability for the user to change it. Is it possible to have the name provided pre-filled with the username from the dolphin site. Since the ability to create an account has been removed - as long as you do not use any other OAuth connections (facebook, google, etc), you wouldn't have to worry about duplicate usernames as the usernames would be checked from the dolphin site.

Reason Why I am asking:

Since I have Push notifications working, I have also added a button to the Actions block of the Profile page. This button opens a small window to the chat in a direct message "channel". This working is all dependent on the dolphin username AND the Chat+ username being the same, and right now, the dolphin username is not showing by default.

Heck, just point me in the right direction if you do not have time to add this to the list, and I will try to figure it out.

Not specifically for Dolphin, but for the Chat+ (Rocket.Chat). I think we have a communication confusion as I was telling you this in another post, but I am not sure you were understanding. I added a button on the Profile page that will start a Private message room, and if the person does not have the chat open - yes they will get a Push Notification.

I understood it clearly last time. That you created a button in dolphin that open chat+ but some where you also mentioned that you will try to send push notifications for dolphin notifications as well. So i was just getting update that did you manage to do it or not.

I will probably look into that tonight - but again, everything relies on the username in Chat+ being the exact same as the username in the Dolphin site.

Once that is accomplished - then I will see about piggybacking onto the subscriptions functionality. If I can manage that - then I have 2 options - use Chat+ to send notifications or just send a simple text message of notifications. I havent gotten that far yet, though - although sending a text message is easiest. Maybe that could be an option for you?

I thought that "Require Name For Signup" should disable it, but it isn't, so Rocket.Chat is always asking for new name.

@ProfessorSr - we've just updated Chat+ with the latest version of Rocket.Chat:

https://www.boonex.com/forums/topic/Chat-v-0-19-0.htm

The new version populate username field from Dolphin, so user isn't asked for new username upon first login also user can't change it later.

So starting from v.0.19.0 it should work for you.

I tried to install it last night on a fresh install and it would not go past the OAuth part (when viewing log output). Will try again with a fresh install when i get home from work.

 OK, so I got home and setup a fresh install of CentOs 7, then installed the new Chat Server. Everything went perfect. Then installed a fresh 7.3B2 - with just the OAuth and Chat+ modules. And yes - when logging into the chat and using the DOlphin COnnect - it did use the members username as the default username. Thank you so, so much.

Just curious though - remove the ability for people non members to join chat site. What if us as site admin want to allow that.
