Chat+ Cookies

Ok, so i have gotten the api to log a user in - but it does not set the cookie variables. I notice when viewing the cookies created on a normal logon, there is a host labeled chat.cvp71.com, but I can not set a cookie for a subdomain - I can, but the browser does not recognize it. How can i set a cookie for the subdomain so that when i use the api to log a user in - i can set the cookies so when they actually go to the chat, it will open without asking for login info.

i tried using a "." before the domain name - as such: .cvp71.com - which I read should allow cookies to pass down to all subdomains - but rocket.chat is not picking up the cookies.
