Am I able to change couples to something like "Affiliated Groups"? I'm wanting to make it possible for organizations to join with hopes that they will donate to help support my website. I'm wanting to somehow use my point's system to reward members but I don't have any way of rewarding them for stuff I obviously don't have. I'm wanting to hold contests in the future when I I'm able to save the money up for another module or two to do this. I figure if I can get some organizations to back things like this up, all I'll need to do is figure out a way to get people to post the kind of media I've geared my site to support. Is there some code I can easily change to accomplish this? Or is "couples Hard-coded into the website?

Suppose you could just RENAME it in the admin couldnt ya? Their are a few things i have renamed on my test site and have made a few drop downs into check boxes and have added to them. I have the same idea in mind for local businesses where i live. We dont have much capitol to start with either for adv. purposes. I figures i would make a FREE social community for our local area. Then have (eventually) local businesses pay to TARGET their customers on our site rather than blowing money on worhless radio, tv, road side banners, etc. That is all expensive but just getting people to sign up i am having a helluva time with. If ya had the knowledge, could always hack into college databases and grab student emails.lol. (no, i have no idea how). I had a ton of businesses cards made that i will hand out once i am ready plus i had those little yard signs made up to post at busy intersections ($99.00) for 100 of them. I actually bought the 3000k member mod to make it look like we have actual members since its so hard to start a site with nobody their ya know... whoops, got side track on this conversation THINK FOR YOUSELF! Side tracked is good my friend- I'm a newbie and a believer in multi-perspective. These perspectives come out from those of us who sometimes get the TMI comment thrown our way. I dig it actually. I tend to do the same OFTEN. I've struggled with that whole reality of getting that start and drawing people into my website beings they would be the first to join. I purchased a website solution just before finding Dolphin and my Host. It came with a ton of users already, and I didn't know what the hell that was all about. LOL I thought "Who the hell are all these people? UnUh...they gotta go! Why on earth does this company leave their employees in the system after testing the product?" Boy am I clueless. Now after what you mention, I realize that was attempt to resolve the whole "Ghost Town" feeling of being the only member at my site while I'm getting it ready. There ain't no way I'm going to be able to afford a mod like that. I got some ideas on how to get people in there but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. I'm doing something fairly unique and I'm hoping as long as I can find people that love sign language as much as I do, I can reign 'em in. Your plan sounds pretty solid- logical - well planned. I thought about what you mentioned and I'm so green I'm afraid I'm going to screw something up. I have seen that I can add new fields which will help distinguish one member type from another. After you have so many REAL PEOPLE within your sign and creating activity, the fakes will eventually fall off but until then, you want to make it look like its active by showing at least. I read somewhere to start a forum, you make a few fake profiles, and start a few topics, then start arguementswith yourself (logging in and out of fake names) until others see the actual activity and the topic or a comment hit nerves with the REAL people. As far as advertising on RADIO, TV, ROADSIDE BANNERS, etc. Unless you have 10's of thousands to blow, dont even think about it. I had ran a site i had on tv, and had a radio ad run for an entire week and did nothing. I had an udult site at one time and ran a online banner which cost me $1300.00 which was our tax refund for that year. I figured it was time to get a bit risky. Well, nothing to show for that either. Same with google ads. unless your a wiz at key words an phrases, dont think about it as it will bankrupt you if you do not know what your doing. Instead, put those little yard sign in front of your local movie place. a few high traffic businesses. trade some advertising with other businesses. You offer them free adv on your site and they post 1 or 2 yard signs. Maybe you have an adult site, go into a few local adult novelty stores, ask if you can leave a few hundred businesses cards and in return, plug their business within your site. another good example i did. I went to our local cinema place and offered them a good adverts spot and in return they give me not cash to advertise but trade as in FREE MOVIE PASSES. Now you can have contests or use that as a tool to get members. NEXT 100 MEMBERS GET A FREE MOVIE PASS. Just remember, it doesnt take an astronaut to float into outer space, it's just a thought! I realise this however, in life, there are always maybes. Maybe they are online and stepped away from puter, or to busy chatting with others at the time. Point is, the site draws attention because of the members. before to long, you have 10 real people, then 20, 40, 100, etc. Then the real ones start groups of their own, topics, etc and they start chatting with other real people. One must start somewhere. Say you go to a new dry cleaners place which just opened. Nothing on the racks, or no businesses yet from what you can see. Would you be the first? Now the owner, if smart would briing in a bunch of his clothing and hang it as if he was extremely busy. You thoughts would probably be "Wow, the place is brand new and has a ton of business already". He must be a good place. Then you start spreading the word whether you mean to or not. then everything starts to snowball. These fake profles can start arguements like i mentioned also. Piss people off, dont much matter as long as YOU know whats going on. YOUR GOAL is getting more and more members. Cant do that wih no friends or 1 or 2 people. who is going to want to be a part of that? One can start out with... 1.The 9/11 towers was an inside job (which in my opinion was) Just an excuse to do what daddy couldnt do. 2. Bring home all the soldiers, close that bay prison place, drill our own oil, free health care, etc
