Change add to cart "link destination"

Hello, I have only one issue remaining with my site;

Under the "available memberships" box there is a "add to cart" box/link next to each option and this links to the dolphin cart which I am not using...

I am using OpenCart and just need to redirect this link to my OpenCart store for this to work perfectly :)

Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated :)

Kind regards

Joe

My first guess is that you would need to do this manually through the database. Since you have the payment module installed (thats where the cart gets installed), then you should have 2 locations where the cart is. One is in the member menu (along the bottom) and the other where you specified.

As always, I suggest backing up your database before doing this.

To change the one in the member menu, you would need to edit the link field in the sys_menu_member table (currently points to this: modules/?r=payment/cart/

The other one is located in the sys_menu_top table which currently point to this: modules/?r=payment/cart/|modules/?r=payment/history/

I have NOT tested this, but my guess is you would need to update those links to the link of your 3rd party cart. You will need to clear the database cache after doing this.

Question, is your QpenCart integrated into Dolphin?  When someone goes to Dolphin membership and click add to cart, it would need to inject this into the OpenCart cart system.  We would need the details of how OpenCart is working.  I suggest you look at one of the integration vendors in the Boonex Market.  Personally, I would just use the Dolphin Cart system for memberships.  To use OpenCart, it also needs to communicate back to Dolphin that the purchase of the membership went through and then update the member's membership level.  On my site, that is all the cart is used for, membership purchases.  If I installed another eCommerce package, I would still use Dolphin's cart system for membership purchases because why go through all the hassle of trying to integrate such a small area of the Dolphin site into another application?  It is not worth the trouble and the possible bugs and issues that could arrive; like someone buying a membership and then not having it applied to their account.

Do you know of any way i can properly configure the boonex shopping cart to an external merchant gateway? I use Barclrcard to process transactions (as the final gateway as it were). i know which settings need to be applied but for the life of me i just couldn't find the options anywhere unless i used PayPal? i searched and looked it up for days and days and decided OpenCart was my only solution (especially as it already had a barclaycard module readily available

Thank you for your time and any help :)

One solution would be to have the memberships in OpenCart, then after someone purchases the membership you manually update their membership.  Of course this is more work for you.

Yes, it would be nice if one could just tie the Dolphin cart to the payment processor in OpenCart, that would work as well.

This is going to be a custom job; as I said before, you can look at the vendors in the market offering integration services.  One that I know of is Scriptologist and I think he has a solid reputation as far as I know, you can search the disputes forum for his name.

This brings to mind a related aspect of this topic.  If the OpenCart developers can create several different payment methods in their TOTALLY free, no license required, platform, Andrew, why can't your company do the same?  Two options for payment just does not cut it.  This has been a long standing sore spot with Dolphin users.

Core payment methods

The OpenCart package offers a variety of payment methods, from bank transfers to online payment gateways. The following core payment methods are available with an OpenCart installation:

  • AlertPay
  • Authorize.Net (AIM)
  • Bank Transfer
  • Cheque / Money Order
  • Cash On Delivery
  • Free Checkout
  • LIQPAY
  • Moneybookers
  • NOCHEX
  • Paymate
  • PayPoint
  • Perpetual Payments
  • PayPal Website Payment Pro
  • PayPal Website Payment Pro (UK)
  • PayPal Standard
  • SagePay
  • SagePay Direct
  • SagePay (US)
  • 2Checkout
  • Web Payment Software
  • WorldPay

Thanks for the advice and help so far....After sleeping on it I have decided to use both PayPal and the OpenCart methods (the one used will be defined by which route the member takes to upgrade)

Geek_girl you are correct in that there are probably vendors providing such a service in the boonex market and many of them with great reputations however for me the problem now is funding I simply cannot afford to pay more "fees" without cutting back on customer experience, but by offering both I will take a hit on profits but I can launch immediately and once I am making profit I can look into removing PayPal entirely and redirecting the links as mentioned above :)

Thank you both again for your help and advice :)

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
