Anyone using that? Since your post I decided to try it. I've got it up and running, one nice thing is the the GUI. I currently use Virtualmin/Webmin, so far I still like it compared to this. Some advantages noticed were ffmpeg was setup and compiled during the install. The Softaculous free edition is what made me even think to install, but once there it is disappointing. I also have always used Ubuntu so the CentOS 6.x requirement is a new learning curve for me. (We each have our own favorite.) I'm going to continue to test for a while. What did you find? Newton, did you install it alongside Webmin? Looking more closely, I see it does not support CentOS 7 and we have migrated to using CentOS 7 on our server. Plus this is a sticky for me as I have Apache turned off and just use Nginx; Nginx is not fully supported. for now nginx is used only for displaying CWP, but you can configure it to and add it as proxy for apache if you want. It appears to still be pretty much a work in progress. I have looked at a lot of control panels and have always came back to Webmin. Geeks, making the world a better place |

NO, fresh install on CentOS 6.4 I always prefer Webmin too. ManOfTeal.COM a Proud UNA site, six years running strong! |
In the past week, I have been experimenting on CentOS Web Panel, ISPmanager, and Sentora on my new server (CentOS 6.6 Minimal Raid 1). What I have found that irks me... unzip/zip - seriously, why is this feature missing?!?! folders/files permission - by default, they're not set correctly. MySQL (5.1) - should be 5.5 by now, updated to MariaDB (10.0)... one broke and one won't install.
As of today, I am still not pleased with any of them. Hoping that in the future will change that. |
Maybe ISPconfig3 is for you? http://www.ispconfig.org/page/home.html See some tutorials on HowToForge https://www.howtoforge.com/perfect-server-centos-7-x86_64-nginx-dovecot-ispconfig-3 http://www.boonex.com/market/posts/paansystems - your resource for Dolphin Pro |

Not sure I follow, if you are talking about installing from the CentOS repository then yes, they do tend to stay behind due to wanting to be 100% safe; cuts down on support issues. You can download and install a few other repositories, such as Remi (a must have) to get access to newer versions. If you want to run PHP 5.6.x, then grab the Remi repo; you will have to enable the section for PHP 5.6 first; do some reading. I am running MariaDB; which now is the database that CentOS includes in their CentOS 7. I found that starting it is done using mysql.service (CentOS has moved to systemd) instead of mariadb.service. Most of the commands for Mariadb will be mysql commands for compatiblity so that it is a drop in replacement and you don't have to rewrite code; I have not seen any problems yet with Dolphin and MariaDB. I have access to zip and unzip through tar you can use two methods, bz2 or gz; they come ready to use with CentOS Take a look at webmin; may require more knowledge about servers than with some of the other CPs, but it is what I use. If you want to allow multiple users to set up websites, then look at Virtualmin to go along with webmin. Geeks, making the world a better place |
ISPConfig3; I took a look-see a few months back when I was setting up a new server and rejected it. They have a demo I guess it depends on what you are wanting to do but I found ISPConfig3 got in the way too much. Webmin for just administrating a server gives me the simple GUI I need to avoid having to go to the shell too often. The config editors are nice, I can quickly edit php, mariaDB etc configuration without having to load vi or nano. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Unzip/Zip... That feature is not included in those mentioned panels. Example, in cPanel... users can upload and unzip.
Folders/Files Permission... Example, in cPanel... these settings are right out of box. (644, 755) Example, in others... these settings are off (640, 750)
Database... Example, in cPanel... upgrade to MariaDB a breeze. Example, in others... issues here and there. WTF?! |
cPanel is mature, well-tested software for complete server management and use. You can't really compare it to something like CWP. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
cPanel also requires a license to use. However, I thought we were talking about control panels for people who can manage a server. Easy to install MariaDB, drop into the shell, add the MariaDB repo so you can have the latest versions and easily upgrade (instructions are on the MariaDB website; simply create a text file with the bits and pieces), yum install MariaDB, sit back and watch as it is installed.along with any dependencies. Run the secure script and enjoy having a better database server that is truly open source. It is really that simple so why do you need a control panel to do it for you? So is Webmin Geeks, making the world a better place |
It's not that I need control panel to do it for me. It's compatible issue with the control panel. |
