Cannot vote on a profile more than once in 7.04

Hi all.

Today someone reported a fault with my site, It appears that it is only possible to  vote for a members profile once. I tried voting for different people, as I am aware I can only vote for a member once, but I could not vote for anyone who already had one vote given by another member. So no one can ever get onto the leaders board, because it is not possible to accumulate the necesary votes, as a member cannot have more than one  vote, which is not enough to get onto the leaders!

The leaders is a great way of encouraging people to use the site, Id rather get it working than have to remove it.

I noticed a unity member had a similar problem and someone posted a fix for this, which involved an hour of recoding and looked almost impossible for a novice like myself. Either way the fix did not work for him.

Any help with an easy solution to fix this would be greatfully recieved.

Thanks

You're right, after reading this I checked my own site and sure enough, only one vote will take.

Logged in as different user and couldn't vote for same member.

A bit useless ya, hope there's some feedback on this one.

I waited more than a day and then tried again just in case there was some sort of limit or such thing.

Profiles will accept only one vote no matter what test profile I log in as.

Profile votes is turned on, of course, and all membership levels are set to allow voting.

I'd rather fix the problem than disable the feature...

Any idea's would be a start?

@Magnussoft

Many thanks for reporting this issue.

The issue was dismissed as invalid on the basis that the voting system doesn't allow re-voting based on IP address. I decided to look into this myself and can confirm that it's working as it should.

Based on IP, didn't think of that, assumed it was based on user id.

Thanks for investigating Magnussoft.

What we should to do when non member will make a vote?

PS: If possible do not write me personally, please try to ask on the forum first

I don't think guests should be allowed to vote anyway, so i would say ignore the vote.

Many thanks for sorting this out Magnussoft.

I can see now that you are right.

I was trying to vote on profiles using my partners laptop, as well as my own, without realising we would be using the same IP, Doh!

I agree that it would be better if non-members aren't allowed to vote or post etc, as it gives value to being a member and also provides an incentive for guests to sign up. Hopefully guests will find Dolphin as addictive as we do and sign up.

Does anyone know if there is an issue with the Orca forum? It appears to be working fine as admin, because I can set up new Topics etc myself, but only as admin through the panel.  There does not appear to be any way for members to start new Forum topics or posts, or  post comments etc on forums. When logged in as a member, I cannot see any tabs that say 'add or make' new post/topics and if I click on 'my topics' there aren't any options for starting new topics there either. I have ensured the relevent boxes are ticked, to allow members to post in the forums, I wonder if there is something else I need to do, that will make options appear on members profiles to allow them to interact with the forum?

Many thanks again to everyone for your help.

I cannot vote from the same IP on different day as a member or a guest.

Is there a solution for this?

Thanks
