Cannot Edit Forum Groups

I recently added a new template to my D7 which had problems affecting the Forum. The makers sent me two folders to fix the problem which it did after changing permissions. I then found I couldn't edit any of my groups inside the forum no matter what I tried to do including reverting permissions.

So I went back to the original UNI template. The forum groups still cannot be editied. I get a box coming up saying

'Cannot Modify Group'

I then de-installed the forum and re-installed it using the UNI template

But I still get the same error

Could this still be a permission error. I was told to change the  folder /network/boonex/forum to 777 from 755 but this doesn't work it has to be 755

I have cleaned all cache and reloaded - No Effect

Any ideas would be appreciated

Well i have never seen this directory /network/boonex/forum directory that your refering to. Perhaps you mean modules/boonex/forum.

Anyhow. The forum folder should not have needed to be touched. There are several folders in modules/boonex/forum/ that do need to be writable.

classes
conf
layout
log
js
cachejs

However, that error sounds more like a database issue and not a permissions issue and it makes no sense that a template issue would have caused that. The most common problem with custom templates and the forums is language file issues. Installing a custom template without compiling the orca language file first. Other than that, there are usally no problems.

Yours is a error i have never seen before. I don't even remember seeing it in the past. I'll do a search and see if i turn up anything.
