I have a site where I made the sites browse, search and view for members only. I have changed my mind and would like to make this visible for non-members as well but when I try to "enable" it in membership levels, it stays grayed out. I think I might have used the page access control mod at one point on this, but have cleared everything and can't see anything there that could still be affecting this. Anyone have any idea of what might be going on? |
This one is a really high priority for me if anyone has any ideas. It is for the site I am building at http://world-startups.com - on the far right you will see a menu item called "resources" - the first item under that is "website listings" - click that and you will see that they are all locked and can't be seen. I want to make those public but as I explained I can't make it happen with membership levels. I looked at the database and each item seems to be assigned a security level independently but I looked at some of my listings and they are set to "public". Anyone have any ideas here? - I am stumped. |
What is the "resources", is it a module? If so, do you have that enabled to be viewable to non-members? I can't even get the member actions to work, I set everything to be viewed only 3 times to non members, yet they can browse as much as they like. |
Ron - "resources" is the Sites Module - I thought I had made that clear. You are talking about your own site, right? Could someone give me some clue as to what is going on here? - at least where I should look in the database. It is probably something simple or stupid, but I am stumped. |
Try creating another membership level, and see if you can enable it in that level. |
Ok, now that is totally weird. I tried your suggestion and it worked for the new membership level I set up, but wasn't sure how that helped me or even what information it gave. Then I tired it again on my "non member" level and suddenly it worked! So thanks - I wasn't sure about this advice and I have not theory as to why it worked, but somehow this got it "unstuck". |
