Can not change Video Uploader Method

Dolphin 7.0.9 on Arvixe shared host.

I can not switch the video uploader method from Flash.  Choosing any other method results in the spinning thingy and then the page reloads and goes to the "videos in this album" view.  Tested in Opera, FireFox, and Chrome.

Is this your production site or the fresh .9 install?

Could you share you link via Private Message?

This is the site that will eventually be used for the production site.  On the 7.0.9 test site this feature is working.  The feature was working recently as several test users embedded videos to their video albums using the embed method.

What has changed:

I was having videos stuck in the pending stage so I made some changes in the cron job and now they are being processed although the cron job is reporting a MySQL connect error.  I also deselected the H264 codec although switching it back on did not correct the problem.

I don't see how either of those two could cause this problem and that is the only two things I have done to the site.

Will PM you the site link.

I have found the problem.  I am testing to allow users to have a user name with a space.  It appears that if a user has a space in their user name, when trying to switch the upload method, it does this strange switching to "videos in this album" view.  It defaults to flash uploader and a user with a space in their name can upload a video to their album.

I decided to check to see if it was also true for uploading files.  It is not possible for me to switch the upload method for files; it goes to the "Files of this folder" view.  Since file uploader is required for video uploader, perhaps the answer lies in BxDolFilesUploader

I saw you ask about modules for dolphin 7.1 in one of andrews notes. (Which any serious vendor here will be updating. I am updating mine to be 7.1 compatable.) It's the templates you have to worry about. Not the modules.

Anyhow. If your going to updating to 7.1. Then i would not waste your time on real name support in 7.0.9. They have added the support in 7.1.0

The site I am building is funded by donations from the users.  One of the things I am worried about is spending the user's money on modules for 7.0.9 only to find them invalid for 7.1.  The users would not like to see their money wasted.  I am wondering if I should wait on developing the site on 7.0.9 and wait for the 7.1 beta or just build on 7.0.9 and wait a year before even looking at 7.1 if at all.  I am really uncertain how to move on this.

As for the uploader problem, I think it is related to not being able to display the form when you switch the uploader type and nothing to do with the uploader at all.  I may have to end my test for names with spaces.  And as you said, they have included this feature with 7.1.

Well, there is a simple way to find out if a module you want will be updated to 7.1. And that is to ask the developer. Which also would not be a bad idea to ask anyway. Many developers here you rarely see on the site or in the forums, so a unanswered question would also raise a red flag.

Ultimately the decision to update to 7.1 is your choice.

The buyers of my modules fund my work, so my choice is obvious.

I can tell you this. With the exception of some developers who are not really active here anymore, most all modules will be updated to run on 7.1. They may not be available the moment 7.1 rolls out the door, but they will be updated. As for what developers are active or not, when you ask if it will be updated and they do not respond, you will know.
