I am building a site for live streaming with a plugin that requires a Joomla installation. Need to know before I install if Joomla and Dolphin can exist on the same VPS server. Does anyone know if there are server requirements or other setup considerations that would cause a conflict? What about Dolphin's RMS and Joomla? Does Joomla need its own media server, or can it run with RMS on that server? Any guidance from someone experienced in this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Someday, Someway. |
I have no knowledge of Joomla and RMS but you can certainly install Joomla on the same server; you will of course put Joomla on its own database since it is not wise to share the Dolphin database with other applications. You may have noticed that when you install Dolphin you can not set a prefix for the tables which is a good indication that you don't want to try and share the same Dolphin database with other applications. There is no reason why they can't co-exist. You have a VPS. Server requirements are not a issue as you can set things as they need to be.
RMS is designed for boonex dolphin. As far as i know, nothing is compatible with it. As far as it conflicting with other media servers, that to is not a problem. Pretty much all media servers can run on any ports you configure for them. Including RMS.

Thanks for the replies. Deano, I recently upgraded to VPS and am still learning. Was under the impression that there were server-wide settings in WHM that affected all accounts and domains. Would creating a Cpanel specifically for this installation give me the flexibility I need in the setup, as you indicate I have with a VPS? Thanks. Someday, Someway. |
Yes. But server wide settings should be sufficient for both. The requirements for dolphin should satisfy joomla as well. https://www.deanbassett.com |
