Calendar Year change issue still there

The calendar year change issue is still around (tested on the demozzz).  If I put in a basic date but have teh wrong year, I cannot simply click on the date and put it at the right year.  I must also click on a day within that year.  This really needs to be addressed and become more user friendly.  Maybe an okay button placed on the calendar pop-up so the system knows to just change the year.  Am I the only one who finds this an issue?

you are not the only one that finds that to be an issue. that has been discussed many times. what i found to be ironic, was that they didnt fix the script, but what is offered is a mod over on expertzzz.com that addresses this situation. there are actually two mods, one is actually bringing its own bugs to the table, while the other heightens the usablity, but still fails to address the european date stamp.

that calendar is a problem, and it should be corrected, maybe even placing the option in the admin panel for a datepicker option, so you can have more than one choice for the datepicker.

I see what you are saying and this is the reason I think that happens. Here is what I did to duplicate it:

I edited my profile, changed the year and was forced to click the date again.

Here is why, the calendar is not only capturing the actual date (in my case the 21st), month and year, but it also captures the day (Monday in my case). If I change the year to, lets say 1982, they 21st is no longer on a Monday, its a Saturday. So I have to change it again. The only way to possibly fix this is to create a drop-down calendar option or re-code the calendar so that it really does not care what "day" your birthday was on in your birth year.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

i know this doesnt really help in V7, however, my point is that the option has been coded, and this should have been implemented into this newer release, with the developers knowing it was a problem from v6, and the fact that it warranted the creation of a mod that could be applied to the application.

here is one version of the join form modified;

http://www.expertzzz.com/Downloadz/view/3433

here is an instance of another;

http://www.expertzzz.com/Downloadz/view/4274

so my point here is that where this shouldnt have to be a requested feature, specifically since this has been ongoing as a problem since Dolphin v5, and its well known, because as you can see from the stats on these two mods by the author who ironically is the actually programmer for the application, well over 200 downloads on this and many more who would have opted for it, given the price, they just stayed away from it.

Yep.  The thing is, you can change any single element of the date, and just dismiss the window.  The date in the form field is updated the instant you change anything within the popup calendar.  Unlike the existing calendar, you don't have to click on the day of month to trigger an update to the form field.

Bump to try to get a concensus of opinion on this alternative date picker that I suggested in the ticket Michel created.

What I like about this one, is that as you enter the date, the form field is updated instantly.  Every change you make in the popup calendar, triggers an update of the form field.  I believe this is a little more intuitive than the existing calendar/date-picker, where you must click on the day of the month to trigger an update of the form field.... even if all you wanted to do, is change the year or month.   I agree with mauricecano that the requirement of clicking on the day of the month, makes the existing date picker a bit awkward, and that there is room for improvement.

The calendar/Date-picker in this demo is open source, and the home page is http://www.ama3.com/anytime/ where you can read more about the features.  Every element of the calendar design is controlled by CSS, so you cna easily change the size or colors to suit the theme of your site.

Maybe if enough people give this a vote of approval, it might make it into D7 as a replacement or alternative for the existing date picker.
