Buggy and beyond frustrating

Hey there,

When I first started with dolphin, I quite liked it. Sure there was a learning curve and tech support for a n00b... well lets just day filled with arrogance and sales pitches.

Modules were ok, but lots of pay per use modules which were a pain to get activated and kinda lacked lustre... not that I could do any better, then as a n00b and now as.... well a hack???

anyways, I was pretty excited about the new version of dolphin but my initial exposure is more frustrating than my very first experience. Not only has the fee gone up for a licensed version, but those constant reminders that I am a stingy )&*()*) who refuses to dole out 1K for a product that is far from proven and relies on community support or more money for quasi useful extra features.

My most frustrating experience was finding a half decent theme... I gave up and figured I would modify my own.

Now when it came to actually testing out users, I could not even go into the user moderation menu as an error message popped up. I would tell you what the error was, as well as the other errors I ran into, but I got p1$$3d off and nuked the whole install. I have an old version of dolphin clunking along with its' barrage of bugs which my site manager has.. not gotten used to working around for now. If I decide to come back and test osho out again, my hope is that the crap will be fixed as I cannot see paying anything to add modules and features onto a 1970 Ford Pinto. Regardless of how you fluff it up, it would still explode in a rear end collision.

Again, I am not saying I could do any better, but for all the pomp and circumstance, I was really hoping for an out of the box solution. I'm off to Drupal land, yes I will have to pile on the modules to get what I want, but at least I won't have to pay a couple of K to get those features. This is truly what the model of a community driven software should look like. Yes, Andrew, I understand you and your group put ALOT of work into making Dolphin as user friendly and plug and pray as possible and for that you should be applauded, but 1K???? Really????

If I get desperate, I might give Oxwall another swing at the bat. See ya in 6 months or so

Sorry guys, it was a nice try but I'm not overly impressed yet.

Cheers,

H

HOLY SMOKES. I did not realize the cost of a single license went up. Uh Oh. As much as I like Dolphin, I dont think the client will want to shell out another $400 bucks for a standard license for thie new site - well, actually $250 as this would be his 3rd license. Man, I gots to pay more attention, I thought it was still the same $100  as we paid for the first 2 licenses.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
