Boonex migration

I have a question, my boonex 7.1 site is currently on a linux server and I want to migrate to a new hosting solution but on a windows platform, is this possible ? I presume I wont need cpanel ????

You can upgrade your version. But, at least, you need to have access to dolphin files (usually - FTP) to perform the upgrade.

You can host Dolphin on a Windows server; although I don't know why you would want to do such a thing.  Contact Dolphin Jay, https://www.boonex.com/dolphin_jay as he is the Windows guy to go to.

What I mean is can I pass from a server using unix and cpanel to windows server 2012 ?

 The main reason to switch over to windows, is because I am no good at all with unix.....so hard for me to trouble shoot when I have problems...

You'll also need to understand that because the majority of users and the majority of testing of Dolphin is done on Linux, if you encounter problems running it on Windows, there won't be too many people who can help you.

IMHO Linux is easier to learn than Windows.

How can be done migration of all my site data (blogs,files,music,users) to a new 7.2 dolphin with out upgrade. i did fresh install of 7.2 version and would like to move from old one all user files. please help. Thnx

Hi izubnet. You should really start a new thread for this however to answer your question, doing it without an upgrade would be more difficult since just taking the DB as an example, the upgrade process would upgrade tables/fields for various items (profile, blogs, etc).

Trying to copy data used by an old format to a new format likely won't work.

In relation to files, it may be possible since they are only files referenced from the DB. The DB would be the main problem.
