This is the support forum for the Book mod.

This mod is now updated for Dolphin 7.1

Version 2.0.1 released. (see patches/version_2.0.1 folder for instructions)

Added Chapter and Page functionality.

We need to be able to edit the Book Categories as Children's Books is missing.

I have not figured out the pattern yet, but I was able to go back and edit some fields.

Sometimes they were editable, and some times they were not.

You edit Categories by logging into your Admin panel and go to Settings => Categories Settings then choose the module from the drop-down.

I had a chance to look at this fields not being editable again.

the add screen is what you see when you add a new book

and then when you go back to edit, the field is editable.

I just went to add a new book and now all the fields are showing...

Would it be possible to add the google dictate app?

I have a feeling that if somebody is going to write a book, they might like to dictate it... :)

Added the ability to save chapters in draft (unpublished) mode.

A new block is placed on the Stories page that shows all unpublished chapters to the Story Author only. After a chapter is ready to be published, the author can go to the Chapter page and publish it.

I was wondering if the Book Mod is able to add new categorizes
and I noticed that there is only "Soft Cover" and "Hard Cover". 
There is no eBook of any kind.

1. Is it possible to add Newer styles of Books, eBooks, etc.? 

2. Does the app link to the store for sale, Soft/Hard Cover, .PDF, Kindle, etc.?

The Book Type is managed as Predefined Values so you can manage this listing in the Admin panel. There is no payment feature integrated. You can check the demo link on the module description page to see exactly how the module works and what features are available.

This is a great mod and our entire program was designed around it. 

Is there any idea what the schedule is to update to 7.2 Book MOD?

If it is way down the line we can stop our Dolphin Development and 

invest in other projects until its functional again. If its a short time we can

work on other areas of this project. 

Doing the data entry on a preliminary of over 200 books to start and that's not counting other writers and then doing them all over again to start new, is daunting. We stopped all development and are waiting to find out when there may be an update. We have no other choice at this time.

Book Module - This is now compatible with Dolphin 7.2 . For those upgrading from Dolphin 7.1, please check the upgrade folder for instructions.

Is there a way to either add eBook or change Hard Cover to eBook?

Everyone has an eBook, but soft and hard cover is few an far between.

You can add additional types in the predefined values. Login to Admin, go to Builders => Predefined Values. The name for this option is "BookCoverType".

Will you be adding an area for a direct link to the store?

Its very difficult and time consuming to enter, much less customers don't 

like difficult navigation. By the 3rd level they leave when they should be buying.

Question: Where do I edit the size of the Book Images?

They are a little too large for our purposes and we would like to create them more in the image of a book, if this is possible.

I am a bit lost here. I am not sure what you are referring to. What do you mean by "direct link to the store" ?, please elaborate.

Images in all modules are controlled by the Photos module. You have to modify the size in the settings for that module but it will affect every module on the site that uses images, not just Books.

 In the Book MOD we had to add an html link in the text area to point to the store, that people can buy the book without going to Amazon or any where else. All in one place. The Dolphin store works good for this but there is no simple link in the MOD to the store. Its all the same information, except for a price. It shouldn't be that much to integrate the process to create a store link along with the Book. For now we just create a html link to the Book in the store. We have to create the same info twice, for hundreds of books.

This feature would make the MOD really nice, not doing 2 to 3 times the work. Just a suggestions.
