Better Boonex, better sales, happy costumers

Actually I didn't know where to post this so I decided to post it here, in General and Presale.

I was collecting information from my customers' experience on Boonex thru these years and now I would like to share some ideas and talk about some stuff.

1. The first question I had since the beginning. How to track my sale pages. You know, sometimes it would be cool to analyze how many people have visited your module page and compare to how many people purchased it or asked a question. It would help a lot to make description more clear and maybe better modules. Solution: make at least simple visitor counter.

2. When customer want to ask a question about certain module, he have to go to vendor's profile and click "Message" button at the top or send an email if there's any on the description page. By clicking a "Message" button some users think that they don't have to mention the module name in the message which makes it confused. Sometimes they just can't find a way to ask a question and writing questions on Review section. When they can't find any way to ask a question, they may not purchase this module. Solution: to make a button "Ask a question about this module" which will include the module name in the subject.

3.  After a purchase some customers can't find a way to download their module. Some of them are asking via email, another issuing refund from PayPal because they don't see a way to download anything. Solution: send an email to the customer after purchase with direct link (or short  explanation how to) to download.

Does anybody has any ideas?

 4. Forums, Modules section, etc.:

  • to show exact date and time of the post instead of 4719 days ago;

Great Ideas!

  •  to show user name and link to original post on the message quote;

I fully endorse all the suggestions. I have the exact problems too.

5) Add an option in the Message center to allow viewing all unread mails. For persons like myself who get tons of mails daily, if I do not respond to them same day they sometimes get lost in the sea. This leads to irritation from clients who then assume that you deliberately ignored them. Right now my message box is showing 200+ unread mails and it's impossible to find them.

Absolutely. I temporarily solved this issue by setting the autoresponder that sends my email address back to sender and asking to write directly to email.

6. To make a very simple mobile version of Boonex site so using it from 5" cellphones will not be a pain. Maybe just by using responsive free frameworks such as Bootstrap. It's really easy. When you are in the middle of nowhere and your customer is stuck with downloading a module, you can reply to his message and add him to download list.

If Boonex needs another pair of hands to do some of this useful stuff, I will be here. My interest of making my customers happy and to sell my modules better is already included.

I'm not a module creator but was curious, in your modules description section can you insert your own tracking code via HTML?

When I create blogs here, I add "statcounter" code in HTML and set as invisible to viewers.

This way I can see how many times my blogs/notes are read..

Just a suggestion..

I've tried it but it doesn't work. You can't even to put YT code for a video manual. Oh, by the way:

7. Possibility to add a video to module description.

The ask a question thing would be great, you guys could have a separate area that show "module" questions..

I thought you guys had most of these features.. I would be frustrated as well.

We [edit - customers] should have a "cart" purchase notification just like when we get a connection request, and message under the Account tab.

 8. The feature "Add module to favorites":  just to remember about some really cool module you saw on the market but decided to buy it later.

We used to be able to embed a lot of HTML. But Boonex stripped out that ability. All HTML tags except some basic ones as noted here are stripped out. See Market Section - http://www.boonex.com/n/ongoing-boonex-makeover-market-forums-blog-and

That really seems wrong, seeing those results would/is important I would think! I bet they know..

I mean the market is what makes Dolphin.. if module creators can't get these simple tools how would you know what is really popular and more..

The market makeovers have been good; but these suggestion presented today are EXCELLENT!

Deano, to prove a point..

I got a request to help fix a FB connect issue. Working with the client come to find its your module; but the customer has not been here in so long and they told me flat out the forums were hard to use and could not find answers, main thing was their cart so he could download the recent version.

To me, that is a problem and shows the notification system is lacking and this new format is childlike looking.

9. The possibility to delete old module from the market. Or I just can't find this feature, or it doesn't exists. When you have a Christmas special for a certain amount of days and want to remove it after, it seems like not possible. You can just stop selling.

On the customer side of things; is there a direct link to the shopping history?  If so I am missing it.  I click on cart which then says empty and then I see the link over to the side "shopping history".  If there is not a direct link to shopping history , there should be one.

Wow, I didn't even know that. How do you remember all modules you've been purchasing?

10. Shopping history for purchased modules.

Click on Account, click on shopping cart; (because there is no link for shopping history).  Page comes up and yells at me that there are no items in my shopping cart.  Over to the right is a link "Shopping History".  Click on Shopping History and go to my shopping history.  If there is another way; other than typing into the browser URL, I have not seen it.  Would be nice to click on account, click on shopping history.

I think these are great suggestions. From a customers point of view, I would like to see mods better tested before being released. Also better instructions from upgrades, new installs etc. Some of these instructions just assume the end user if familiar with certain procedures.

Just my 2cents worth.

Another innovation on the module post form: Motives

Adult
Animals
Art
Celebrities
Dating
eCommerce
Education
Entertainment
Events
Facebook

Intranets

Non-profit

What should I check there if my module is related to admin part only? Not all modules are for fun and for user-end, some of them are for admins only. Solution: to not make it mandatory.

Some really useful ideas! We will work on many of them.

As for Motives - we're adding and setting it up as we speak and it won't be mandatory. In fact Motives will only be managed by admin.

Thanks, I know, but sometimes I don't need some 'special offers' anymore since I added customers to download list to each module included in the package, so this offer just staying in my list. If you making special offers too often you have too much of these in your modules list. Just not really comfortable to have unneeded ones.

11. People are asking me all the time about the module version and compatibility with 7.1. I guess they just can't find the information about it at the end of the page. Solution: to use free space at the top to show the module version and compatibility.

Just checked, it's great, thanks! Would be cool to have this counter also on the products market page (where you see all products on the page), so it will be possible to see and compare views without going to each product. Just an idea.

True, but with enough beer/alcohol you will never know it.. Nor will it matter by that time.

I am pushing for this one also. I have already answered version questions several times today. It needs to be at the top of the page.

I would like to add what I think would be a good change.

There are many, many duplicate topics being posted here since the forums format change over.

Most seasoned members know to use the search box top right here, you can search "Site Search, Market, and Blogs."

It's a fantastic tool and will save you lot's of time by not posting the same thing that will get buried in two hours..

Here's my request..

Better Boonex, better sales, happy costumers

There are new users who assumes that if a module is in the market it works or is supported. To some extent it is little of a graveyard among the mods. I've seen some of you developers stepping in recently and explaining to newcomers that have done their first buy from another developer and been greatly dissapointed when it doesn't work and isn't supported.

If Developers checkboxed which versions it is compatible with and there was an automatic text saying

NOT COMPATIBLE with 7.1

That could improve the overall aim of Better Boonex, better sales, happy customers.

7.1 My favorite number

Great ideas, I'm fully behind them.

I'd also like a screenshot when hovering over the thumbnails (like in themeforest).

I think a sales counter too, I think this would improve products and help sellers see what's hot and what's not.

@Andrew Boon Would it be possible to create a more flexible template system, like Wordpress (includes etc), I could create some amazingly custom themes if I had that flexibility.

Thank you guys for reply.

One related to Dolphin: if there's a new module version is released and it doesn't require re-installation, you just have to copy it to your server replacing existing version. But in this case the old version is still shows on your admin side. Solution: make a button that will update current module version.
