Best Commercial Chat Module

Hi Folks - thoughts please.

Need a much better chat moudule than one as standard - admin must be able to create rooms which are fixed and don't vanish when not being used (customers must be prevented from creating).

And also support video chat as well.

 The standard Dolphin chat offers,

• admin creates chat rooms,
• creating chat rooms with passwords,
• these rooms are fixed and are not removed except by the admin,
• video chat is included, as long as you have an RMS server.
• most important, it's FREE

If you don't have access to an RMS server to test Dolphin, your welcome to use mine for testing.

PM me your site and I will add you to my server and give you port numbers to use for your flash settings.

 and rayz chat can be flooded by simply holding the enter key, and have ho character limit so you can paste 90000 pages of text and kill the chat and freeze everyone, AND the block only works for whispers and pm's there is no way to ignore a person who is trolling chatters.. rayz chat has costed me alot of members by people not enjoying their first day on the site, so i sprung for a way better option

Your right, some of it is flawed, but for start up sites that can't invest in more software, only have rayz option. 

 i totally agree on that,, and i myself love rayz chat and i never wanted to move from it i just wanted the bugs fixed, i emailed rayz last year and offered to pay to have these fixed and was told "wait for the boonex update" ,, 2 updates came and there was no fix, heck they even fixed the guest login with a name option on 7.07 or might had been .08 but still all the other bugs were there, so i just got tired of waiting, but yes if you are a start up site and might not have the 500 or more to blow on a new chatroom then by all means go with the rayz, but best have mods there with the boot hammer waiting if you plan on much chat traffic

Updates to the chat module are very slow!!!!

I never tested the "holding the enter key" OMG!

Rayz, you need to fix that! Glad I'm not running sites with chatters!!!

 yeah wait till you have a person paste a whole freaking wiki page in your chatroom durning prime chat time and you watch your room go from 50 chatter to 12!

However, problem were having is as follows.

We setup rooms the other day then they just all vanished. Just done agin, came out of chat and only a few remain. Now trying to add the ones that are missing and it says 'error creating room'.

Have cleared cache as well.

Any ideas?

2 things could be the issue,, 1 could be you have it set in admin to clear rooms when creator leaves, or 2 it could be your rms bouncing and dumping settings, use to happen to me all the time,,  some days all the rooms would just disappear, then like a month later they would just pop back up and recreate themselves, was kinda very freaking strange i had a feeling it had to do with caching on the rms

however, the chat rooms that disappeared i cant recreate - says error creating. Now what do i do?

 I am in the same boat. All of my rooms dissapeared. I was told that this was because I did dot create them via chat admin (which makes sense) but I re-created the rooms and all worked fine. Now I need to create another room and it comes up with the error....

I will use Rayz chat untill the number of chatters can justify the cost of changing to a better system. Appart from the obvious flaws that have been pointed out, you can actualy make it look quite good. We have used the chat watermarks module and it is freakin great. We are also working on creating our own chat gifts by modifying a set of smilies - we found the files had nave figured most of this out.

The biggest issue on my site has been the lack of chat logging.  When someone reports an abusive member, I can't simply assume that their report or cut-n-paste of the chat is accurate, as anyone could modify this.  Of course I would never expect the Audio/Video portion to be logged, but the text chat in RMS mode, is left with no history whatsoever.

any experiences on the mobile version of boonex chat?

And are the bugs fixed in the mean time? i am looking for a good chat module and boonex seemed great actually.

Sigh.. I just wish I could get the source code. I need to make 2 changes to open up my "private" chat rooms.

I notice a great deal of complaints and issues with the chat module for Dolphin. This is one of my main concerns also. I have been fighting over a change to Joomla a few yesrs ago pulling my hair out with CB and Jomsocial as a community platform which has been a huge joke. Prior to that I used Simple Machines for years strickly as a BB and with that used Flashcoms, had it for some time and was happy with the way it looked and worked but in my case I use an offsite RMTP server (Influxis) that was highly recommended by Flashcoms. It appears to me that an offsite server can really minimize many of the issues I see here but the question is why doesn't someone come up with a module for a remote connection server and get away from the currnet RMS issues. I am now using AVchat with Joomla and Jomsocial still using the Influxis Server and want to switch to Dolphin using the same combination, Any Ideas on setup for a remote rmtp server with Boonex and a avchat intergration system?

My major issue with Falashcoms was the 399.99 cost for a single server adress and very poor support.   

I posted this before but didn't get a good answer why we can't use this on our sites.

Red5Chat uses RMS which most of us have running already..

I'm seriously considering Comet Chat and would appreciate feedback on that one before final decision. I was assured (via email) that they could permanently disable the private chat room capability, which would make it much more attractive to me.

Considering a purchase myself, just need to test it on iphone first properly.

Biggest flaw for me on Rayzzz is it is flash. That rules out all apple device users straight away. 

Depends on how you set your site up, if you want to cater for mobile market (50% ish!) or not, if not then it's not a problem.

If you do, then dolphin rayzzz chat is simply a no go!

Tussery, is flashcoms locked to a single domain once you purchase it? 

I have several sites in build... hoping to use it across them all if I have to pay out for it!

 Have you ever figured this out? I'm willing to pay if you can help me with the chat gift/token.

I looked at the Red5 solution and it seems interesting. They are offering the package and then selling services; such as editing it to connect to your existing member's database and hosting services.  However, one does not have to buy any of their services.

I bought 4 mods from flashcoms they are very nice and working fine with no issue. http://branchlove.com/m/flashcoms_chat/embedded plus the members really like them. Yes Expensive but I am happy as long as the members enjoy it.
