Awstats or Statcounter or equal...

Who uses Awstats and or something like statcounter?

I have compared the two results, they are not even close on the number of visitors.

Which one is the most exact.

I know at statcounter you can "filter" your own IP address from showing, not so for Awstats but I did take that into consideration when calculating the numbers by subtracting the hits from my IP.

I talking something like 10k off on the numbers.

What about the number of bot visits; is that taken into account?

 this is 'Google Images' bot .... it rarely visits sites (maybe just a few times a year) but it's basically looking for new images since the last time it crawled your site.

I always use Analytics ... (1) it don't lie about results (2) bots of any kind are never included in results

I have looked at all three. Not so sure I trust google anymore either.

 Josh, this is one reason I don't trust google and how sites get indexed; although I'm happy with it, just confusing.

In the following screenshot, the search phrase is "gay guys website," in the photo you see the only word referenced is "gay."

Now I'm number one, but I have to change the "Name" of my site every month or so to remain on top. (little trick I learned)

I had one site, (not adult) was making $$$$$ and all the sudden was suspended because of the chat page. I really think once you start earning money, they review your site even more...that is a bit of topic but all leads back to my love hate with google.

Umm, well I have had my adsense account suspended and deactivated sooo many times and I have multi chat applications set-up!

Each time within a day or two they have been put back on ... the reason?!  Well, because I do not put SM across as a chat site or chat program and I do not place adsense on actual chat page!  SM has far more quality content and services and this in-fact wins my battles every time.

When I explain this to Google (also pointing out I don't have adsense on any chat pages) they thoroughly check my site and re-approve SM adsense accounts.

Into what files and where in the file do I enter the tracking code from Google Adsense?

Looking at Awstats I am at 53GB of traffic for the month.  But I'd like to know how that translates into actual use of the site.  I do have a web spokesperson and I think that she is the reason for most of my bandwidth. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1Jq7xfblGM

Disregard, I see that I can see how much she counts for toward the bottom, 41GB.

 On your index page, the spokesperson; is it an embed from youtube? If so that uses none of your BW, now if the video is on your server and used that way, it will use bandwidth.

For videos it is the best practice to embed them if you can, therefore using bandwidth from youtube.

Photos can be done the same way, but to me it's an extra external call that takes time from the site load times.

Interesting, I hadn't considered embedding it from Youtube.  It is currently on my server, I only linked this thread to my Youtube upload of it.  I think that if I had it on Youtube though I wouldn't be able to have the transparent background.
