Available Trident features

Hi everyone,

I've been browsing the forum, the blog and the demos, but didn't find a clear answer to my questions:

1) Where is the complete list showing Trident's core/built-in features (like this Dolphin's feature list here), already existing native Boonex apps, Boonex native apps that are yet to come, and apps from third party providers? (If for some reason there is no such comprehensive list - are the advanced search fields, advanced profile fields, memberships access levels, etc. just as customize-able as in Dolphin?)

2) Is Trident suitable to be used as a dating site, just as well as DolphinPro, and if not - which features is it missing for that purpose?

3) What framework and programming language is it built on and written in?

4) Since it's primarily targeting mobile units, I assume there won't have iOS and Android apps, as there won't be much need?

5) When is Trident expected to be 100% stable?

I am trying to evaluate which soft, DPro or Trident, is more suitable for my dating site, so any canned or full of attitude answers is not what I am looking for. Thanks!

1) General features are mostly the same, only several features were removed, and several was added.

2) Trident is more general soft than Dolphin, so Dolphin is more suitable for dating site. For example there is no matchmaking functionality.

3) Same as Dolphin. Actually it is Dolphin 8, but because of visual changes and more general purpose we changed name to Trident to make it less confusing.

4) Yes, mobile app isn't needed since all functionality should work on mobile.

5) It's already stable - http://www.online.me/page/view-post&id=260

Thanks a lot for the prompt answers AlexT,

A few additional questions:

1) In regard to your quoted answer about some features added and some removed - is there any place listing these changes in Trident?

2) Will Trident ever be included in Softaculous list, and if yes - approximately when?

3) Since Trident will be pushing automatic updates, will there be a certain user-friendly way of preserving changes made to site's css (- most importantly), js, php, and html files? Or will these be minor security related auto-updates (like minor Wordpress updates) which do not change/replace the main files?

4) Which one of these two, if any - DolphinPro or Trident, will Boonex put priorities on in the future, and are there any plans to sometime later on discontinue developing/maintaining DolphinPro?

5) Does Boonex or any other 3rd party developer offer paid installation service of Trident trial version, and if so - where does one proceed?

Thanks once again for your answers.

Trident is pretty easy to install, I have it installed on my own local dev machine.
Let me know if you need some help.

1) There is no such place, but you can ask for the particular features

2) I think it will be included, but can't give any estimation, also it can be installed manually very easily

3) There is build-in protection to not update changed files, it's enabled by default, but you can disable it to force files overwrite even if they are changed

4) We are trying to give equal priority to both products, there is no plan to discontinue DolphinPro for now

5) I think almost anyone who can install Dolphin, will be able to install Trident as well

I'm a DPro premium subscriber. Is it possible to migrate my DPro to Trident once the latter becomes available?

It will be possible to convert Dolphin license to Trident license, but for this procedure isn't possible.

Thank you, Sir Alex. I understand that Trident is actually Dolphin version 8. I just thought that the database schema is also the same so that once I upgrade my Dolphin to Trident it would have no issue. So, I really need to install a new Trident software. It will be totally different registration, right? New members?

It will no direct upgrade script from Dolphin to Trident, but we'll make data migration script which transfer some data from Dolphin to Trident.

Below is the legacy version of the Boonex site, maintained for Dolphin.Pro 7.x support.
The new Dolphin solution is powered by UNA Community Management System.
