Using 7.0.7 at the moment.
I'm having some big issues with the video chat that we didn't have a few months ago. There are so many possibilities/variables that can cause the issues and I am at a loss to what it might be. Searches on the issue only seem to bring up posts that are 1500+ days old.
1) Echoing, when more than two people are in the room. Doesn't always happen with everyone but there is an echo when some talk and then sometimes a second, much lower volume echo. Not sure if this is a user speaker too loud issue or whether it's a problem with the software or server.
2) Delay, Video lags behind audio with one user and gets worse as time goes by. They need to exit chat and reenter to get almost synched up audio and video but then the delay slowly increases again. I suspect that this user has either a old computer and/or slow internet connection. The user recently moved and didn't have this issue before. This only affects this user.
Some chat settings:
Update interval = 7 (found old post [1753 days old] that suggested lowering to 6 but that made it worse)
Video Quality = 100%
Video frames per second = 30
Other things that may affect this:
Were currently hosted at BishBosh on a shared server with RMS on a separate shared server (linux OS). Were moving as quickly as possible to HostGator with a VPS level 3. BishBosh recently updated the RMS physical server to a supposedly better one. That's when we started to notice this problem. (BishBosh can take up to 2 days to respond to a downed chat server. Wouldn't even recommend them to someone I hate). BishBosh says our problems are not with the RMS server.
Another thing that could be affecting/causing this:
Around the time of the RMS server move I tried to upgrade to 7.0.8. (one file at a time, dumb move) Chat wouldn't load at all so eventually I rolled back the upgrade and chat/flash apps continued not to work so I downloaded a fresh/new 7.0.7 from Boonex site and took the Flash folder and a fresh Modules > Chat folder and overwrote the folders and their contents and then Flash was working again.
Does anyone have any idea what may be causing these two issues? We are in a relaunch of the site (former webmaster really screwed things up) and this is preventing up from moving forward.
Any help will be greatly appreciated,
Jessica
