Are there no dolphin coders? No proper response from credible Coders !

Hi Boonex/Andrew Boon,

I've been looking for Coders to customize some mods for our requirement, Are there no dolphin coders? No proper response from credible Coders ! You really have to work on building better coders community and credible work delivered. There are either scamsters posing as Dolphin coders or the other credible coders seems very busy or putting up a price. Take a queue from Odesk verify their details and promote the good coders and punish the ones who looking to make a quick buck. Calling Dolphin an open community is just not enough.

There seems to be very few coders whom everyone is contracting for outsourcing their work, This way the product will phase out pretty fast, you have to offer better perks for someone who does a good job for your customers. I will wait for another week max or else I will shift to Social Engine, Elgg, Drupal  or JomSocial which have larger communities and better support. I love Dolphin don't get me wrong but what good it an amazing product without proper support from the coders. My urge to you please make an effort to promote more coders to do your customers work faster and easier.

Thanks

I looked at some of your job posts, and found there were several credible developers that responded.  It seems to me that either something these developers have done has turned you off, or you have some kind of standard that needs to be met.  I don't know the actual details, so I'd like to hear more.

That said, you can always try oDesk, which partnered with BoonEx a while back. I haven't used them personally, but I haven't heard any complaints, either.

if you want the best then you have to pay for the best... its like everything in life.....

Its a case of building up relationships, communicating and working around language barriers and obsitcles.

Here is the deal, There have been several requests from Coders to award the projects to them, I have initiated dialogue and also fixed up the price with some, Then they disappear without any communication. Others warned me not to engage with some coders since they are not credible.

Now if the once who are credible, don't respond and be professional in there work. The others dont have a history of completing projects, aren't supposed to be credible. Where do newbies like us go? Its extremely frustrating. I dont know what to do my project is stuck cant go back or forth. Some care to help!!!

ok.... It is a difficult situation... I sat where you are for many months... It took me a long time to build the relatuionships i now have with the top developers on here. They can be hired, but there will be communication problems! If you can work with these people than you will get what you want. It also helps if what you need doing is interesting, different or stimulating for them. You need a way to get their attention.

When you get one, you will need to manage the project carefully, this includes functionality, finance, testing and service. To be honest, it is going to take time. I found it helped to do a design brief - with images of what I want and need (including the back end). I then sent this to the developers asking for quotes. This image based approach helped break down the language barriers and increased understanding of what was required.

Hope this helps,

Nathan

seeming as your job offers were only posted a week ago, and you have replies for both from 2 of the better coders on the community, I think you will just have to be patient if you are serious about your project!

You cant expect to post, then have the job done in no time. If its a job worth doing, its worth doing right. A week is hardly a long time to get someone to do a custom job. Dont forget the coders most likely have other jobs they are working on and are also supporting others in the community!

I know the 2 coders that have responded to you job offers are both great at what they do as others have commented on your job offers already...

 Hi

I fully agree with you, and not just me, I would say just about everybody who has bought the platform.

I am a PHP coder myself and I cannot use this because the way it has been programmed makes it completely impossible for anybody outside the very insiders of the dolphin coding community. This means, it is NOT OPEN SOURCE. The way it works is by building dynamic queries for every single command which in any other web in the world would be static. What is the effect of that ? The consequence is that with 10 simultaneous users at the same time, just 10, your MySQL engine will start "abusing" resources from your server and your webhost where you have a shared account, will send you a warning where you are compelled to move to a Private Virtual Server or to a Dedicated Server, so instead of having unlimited space for 7 dollars a month you will have to pay 50 dollars a month for 200 Mb. So when people upload 10 videos, you are out of space. The coding of Dolphin will exhaust the allocated number of MySQL queries at your host.

There are only two reliable coders, Igor and Alex. They are never available.

If you try to outsource you can find yourself in a very bad situation, as the company will delay the completion of the work and will demand more and more money from you. Else you pay or you will lose everything.

I did not engage myself into that because I was foreseeing it.

Therefore, buying Boonex Dolphin is asking for troubles.

They should have built an active and ample support and coding community, but they dont care about it. People have been complaining about this for years. Newcomers dont know it, buy the stuff and then get the surprise, but they have already bought it, so who cares?

There are more than two reliable developers here (and the two you listed are developers for the company, they don't do custom work).  You should read the profile and product reviews of some of the developers.  I don't know why you're making such a claim.  Is there any reason why you think this way?

because I went through that too.

My experience was very similar to the one described by the other poster. First one company said, yes we do whatever, so I described the project which is not complicated at all if you know the Dolphin environment since it was basically copying my own code of an old web server to the new one. The answer was that "they did not have time to do such a lengthy work. Other "company" vanished without saying anything. Other offerers claimed to have experience yet they did not have a portfolio. Others I could technically detect they knew very little about PHP. In other cases there have been people who had lost money hiring unknown coders, etc

Then another guy showed up with a story about his "company" that had so many holes you could drive a truck through it. He claimed they had done over 800 dolphin sites, yet he was unable to show a single work done. He also said look at the review they have written about me a Boonex, I read it and it was written in first person, that is, he had written him himself.

Then one company in India said they would do that in 1 or 2 days, while another company said 9 days, finally there was one which sounded professional, but then terms of agreement did not inspire confidence since, despite the fact that I was the own coder of the work and everything was clear from the onset, they threw a blanket of uncertainty as to how long the project could last, and that would mean having to pay for an additional block of 20 hours, which would get me caught in a trap. I wanted the project to be fixed and closed from the start. etc Finally I got disappointed also because I cannot spend thousands of dollars in google adwords or thousands of hours in self backlinking and blog writing, thus, i get nearly no visits to my site other than the robots and the spammers, so I called off everything.

not sure about some of the posts here.

I started using Dolphin on a shared host with HostForWeb about 2 years ago, I have a few sites running, and some were picking up a few hundred users uploaing pics, videos etc...

I had no problems at all.

I then chose to go to dedicated just so I had more control as my plans were to expand to bigger sites as I learnt the script.

I now have several sites all running off one dedicated server, some with hundreds of users, some into the thousands.

No problems at all with the sites, either running speed or the script.

Dolphin has been great for me so far and Im now moving into the next phase of my sites which will be on a much bigger scale.

Guess not everybody in the Dolphin community has had the problems you are suggesting so its not 'just the script'.

I could recommend my webmaster.  They said that they have made 800 websites and have 15 employees... My project is costing me 3,000 US$.   For this price and such powerful company, I am trusting all my project and hope to have a real professional results.

But, I can not recommend them yet.  Sometimes they don´t respond my emails.  This last time, I was 10 days without any feedback.  And after more than one month, there is nothing that I can see about my project.  In fact, I am doing many adjustments by myself with a lot of help of people here in Forum (Huge Big Thanks you all).

Before I contract them, I had some others scripters to analysing.  But this one whom I am working with used to give me a lot of attention and fast feedbacks before the payment (now it is different).  The strange thing they don´t have in their website but is needed.

  •  Online Portfolio - list of websites and things they can do
  •  Real address of the company in the website.  With City, Street...

also

  •  Contract (This one I got from them).
  •  Your project planing - What, How they are going to build your site and timeline.

Well, I am living in a hell.  How more professionalism I ask, more distant they are.  But if they really make it, then I will come back to recommend them to you.  If not, I will come back here and everywhere I can to aware people about them.

Just take care with who you are dealing with and wish you success in your project.
Never give up Wink
