So whats the new profile ?

Aramis aka AndrewP was caught stealing in someone else's code and was suspended for one month! We strongly recommend to not work with this person.

One more reason not to trust the market here, and then depend on an individual who has written a module that has been suspended for on reason or another.

Not getting updates for a module purchased that is being used on a site because they were suspended.

AndrewP's profile is no longer available right now, what happened this time?

To top it off records were not kept for past purchases, "please send me a dollar with comment"

WTF

So SashaE, why or how can we trust the vendors then?

You guys are the one allowing them to post products, are they not tested?

In other-words the market here is "take a chance" you might get lucky...

this is a moot subject anyway, It looks to never be addressed.

I have purchased from vendors and constantly have to beg for updates, and if they do update a module there is no correspondence to the prior customers about it..this sucks!

I really do not know what is happenning here with AndrewP aka aRamis as i had always got help from him in what ever way i was having problems with our site.  He was always replyin with a solution and secondly what i am nto able to understand is that we do not know what exactly has happenned i prefer to hear the story from BOTH the sides and not take only one side.

So if  Boonex unity administrators give us the story in complete and allow Andrey also to give his version so that it would benefit in having confidence in Unity if not if anybody is buying mods he might have a fear what if something goes wrong tomorrow.

I hope this will be taken in a positive note and Unity administrators or Boonex would comment on this and give a fair chance to everybody.

Well listen to the story.
Andrew was once worked in the boonex. He was fired when they heard that he stole ideas are used for dolphin. make modules sold them.
It was his first sin.
Then he stole the code from AntonLV than  inserted into own module, and began to sell. because of this it was banned. Then the well-known story with camchat when he sold the product without charge a right to it! Finally, he again stole some code from my pay-module.
And sell it. How much can we give him a chance? No one you can not guarantee that he will not steal your own modules and
will sell them if you work with him

Boonex it is a Open Source code if I'm correct.

Evryone can see the heart of each  Modules??

So evryone can copy, tell  me if i'm wrong!

If evryone is afraid that he stole the idea and/or sollution, nobody make an Open Source code.

Its for the reason that I love ilbellodelweb codes.

For Other items I have seen these as Andrew help all, that is on these Module or Problem/solution for Boonex

There is another person who uploade many Modules, but are not able to make an effort on the support.

Its easy to blame. In his condition, you should also give mony to recpmpense someone who help boonex has evolved (solution in the coding), anything but that.

Its easier to see the error that good.

The last point, I dressed the most matter to Customer who buying these module.

There will be no more support on these Module?

There will be no  upgrade to use for new releases of Boonex?

the  many  is   gon  for all thes  customer??

Why is not Andrew being  given a fair chance whether what you are quoting is true or is it just your side of the story.  As anywhere in the world both sides have to be heard.

I might be wrong.  But a programmer who is able to help so many here in unity with his knowledge why in the world has he to copy soembodyelse code .  He himself can make it if i am right .  I personally had about 10 different issues with my site wherein he helped me out exactly what i have to change and where which code has to be put.  I think this is something to really be investigated in rather than just to come to conclusion.

I would appreciate if you at Boonex come into action give him a fair chance to explain his side of things to the members and let the members decide whether he is worng or right.  this is in the interest of Dolphin members as many members have bought his mods and they might not get their fair treatment because of his non availability.

One thing worth mentioning is that Boonex's own licensing system for Dolphin is designed to circumvent the licensing terms of the many third party plug-ins that used, and distributed with Dolphin.

As for our own licensing system, that, as HL puts it, "designed to circumvent...", I'd love to know specifics.? We distribute under the terms of CC-BY, and use a number of open-source plugins, licensed either under GPL or MIT license (TinyMCE, jQuery, etc.). Those licenses allow the products to be used with copyright references as plugins to other products without inheriting the license terms. You would find that great many commercial products use such open-source plugins.

Also, we distribute Dolphin for free, and require a fee only to remove visible references to BoonEx from the parts of the site that have been developed by ourselves.

Exactly.  You have just answered your own question. GNU licensing terms stipulate that 'Derivative works' must be freely distributed.  Therefore you cannot actually sell Dolphin.  Adding those banner ads, is what allows you to make money off of your 'Derivative works'.   If Dolphin did not have those banners, you would not be able to sell Dolphin commercially without negotiating special licensing terms with all the third party vendors.

It's a common thing that everybody does when third party open source scripts are integral to their own product.  You cannot legally sell a product outright, so you have to get compensated by other inventive means, ie, removing links, and banners.

I don't have a problem with any of this, I just find it amusing.

So.... What is AndreyP accused of this time?  I wish you guys would pursue some of the more troublesome marketeers with the same diligence. (Did you know we had a disputes forum?)

To say AndreyP has been suspended (again) and not say why is unfair both to  Andrey and to Unity members. As for 'stealing someone else's code', it is open source is it not? (see HL's comment above) I would understand your concern if your complaint was 'he stole my idea'... or am I misunderstanding something here?

I was hoping to purchase a couple more mods from AndreyP but you have put a stop to that.

I have always found AndreyP to be first class in his support and his mods.

My 2 cents worth

AndrewP has been suspended and penalized once before and unfortunately we had to do it again. You would think people should learn from their mistakes, bud sadly it's not always true. I have personally warned Andrey a few times.

"GNU licensing terms stipulate that 'Derivative works' must be freely distributed. "

Not right. It stipulated that they must be distributed under the terms of compatible license. This doesn't matter anyway, however, because Dolphin is not a derivative of any licensed product and we have every right to license it under any terms. GNU-licensed components are separate plugins and we could (or do) just offer them in separate downloads. Thus, for example, Media Server, based on Red5 is free and doesn't require a license.

it's a complicated subject though

----------

As for Andrey - one of his products used large bits of code from another member's product and we could verify the complain. Andrey failed to prove us wrong. We would do the same to any other member, it just happened that in this case we had a way to to verify the reporter's claim, while very often we can't do that.

I wish we didn't have to do that. Andrey does help other members and offers a lot of products that his clients seem to like. That's only a good thing for BoonEx, but it's a matter of direct violation that has happened for the 3rd(!) time.

I dont want to know on who is right or wrong . All i want to say is boonex should take some steps in order to secure the buyers of such modules . For example what boonex can do is that in a situation where a paid module is being sold boonex can take the money , keep a reasonable share and transfer the remaining to the seller on a monthly basis or so . Now why boonex should get a share ? With this share boonex can pay the agents or any one supporting the module , So in conclusion , Buyers are safe , boonex is happy, seller is happy .

Even if the seller is banned or runs off boonex can still continue to give support and sales .

Each  company buy  car  from the other one  and  start  to  destroy  the car, just  too  look the difference and  what is better.

We are talking about milliard of dollars.

And  now  for  a small code,  all  customer from andrewP need to wait 30Day  for  Support

On the end who get the most trouble AndrewP or the customer of AndrewP

I'm trying to contact AndrewP regarding one of his modules, what should I do, I don't have his email...?

To be honest though, I'm sure this goes for most of us, we don't give a shit where this code in a module comes from, we are using an open source platform where we have to heavily invest further in modules and scripts by developers, most of which are poorly written and sold by morons who don't care about their customer (don't worry, I'm not all tarnishing you with the same brush)! If Boonex's support wasn't so abysmal and the developers actually treated their development work like a professional running a business instead of contacting their customer days, weeks or even months and rubbishing off support claims instantly with no investigation/communication then there would not be so much dependancy on finding a unique module which actually adds value to your site.

If there isn't a module that does exactly what I want but someone comes up with an idea of using an element of someone elses module to produce something exactly like I need, then I'm gonna buy it. What other choices do we have? I personally think everyone that sells in the Boonex Market should undergo some sort of screening before being allowed to sell, get rid of some of the absolute crap that is available on there.

Anyway, I'm just sayin' :/

Quote · 11 Feb 2011

I try to keep Mods use as low as possible because you never know if the developer will continue to support the product or not.

Worse case scenario, wouldn't another PHP developer be able to come in and fix or update another developers module?

Quote · 11 Feb 2011

actually it is quite simple ..

Does Boonex earns money with every sold module? if the answer to this question is yes, you might have legal grounds to hold them responsible as well.

Here in the Netherlands, consumers, are very well protected. Even if we would buy products or services in other countries.

Anyways, it will always be difficult to find a good and trustful developer. One day he or she might get married, and play time is over ;-)
