Waiting on the next version is never a good idea, unless you absolutely need the new features. You're usually better off using the current version and upgrading when ready. I know plenty of users will be on 7.1 for some time after 7.2 is released. BoonEx Certified Host: Zarconia.net - Fully Supported Shared and Dedicated for Dolphin |
Besides, you are a bit confused on the release. The release will not be an alpha, it will just be the next update in the line. Dolphin Pro version 7.2.0. If there are any bugs in the release; and if there are any mostly will me minor, then we report them and a 7.2.1 update will be released and so forth. Geeks, making the world a better place |
Earlier I launched my website, it was a mess cause mobile apps are useless and web pages were not responsive. So with every 1 having smart phones it didn't get any response. I been waiting for DU/Trident but they changed its path also by making simple blogging site. Only option left for me to wait for DPro. Thanks GG for clearing that 7.2.1 thing :) Umar Haroon |
There are dozens of responsive templates available in the market right now, plenty for free or a low price. You could probably launch with one of those free templates and then use the one from 7.2 when you're ready to upgrade, or any of the new responsive templates that will be released. Like Nathan said you are better of with a free responsive template for now. So don't hold your breath and just move forward with what you can do right now. |
We are hoping to release Trident beta by the end of March and get on to Dolphin Pro. This time we decided to make a succession of more granular updates 7.2 - 7.3 - 7.4 in short time periods (every 3-4 months). This way we can bring most urgent updates quicker and avoid complications that often come with large scope of changes. Heart Head Hands |

If the releases come too quickly, it can put a burden on developers to test their modules on each new version. Geeks, making the world a better place |

i think its time to tell everyone the complete feature and future module of trident... till now we have no idea what u going to provide in trident ... if u can tell us then some of us might wait or hire a developer incase u not providing that particular feature or module..

Once we launch the beta we'll know what's in. Until then there's still shifting. With any luck we should be able to launch the beta next week and then we'll be posting an announcements with details on what's included and what are the further priorities. Trident will be in beta for a good while (about 6 months, I estimate) - during this time we won't be adding new features or making significant changes - it will be the time of testing. fixing and adapting the infrastructure. It will also be the time for developers to prepare their modules, submit them and get them approved. We only estimate Trident to take about about 20-30% of the workload for the next 6 months. The rest will be going to the development of Dolphin Pro updates, since we need to urgently make it mobile-friendly, update mobile apps, update chat, forum, add file manager and improve a bunch of core features. Trident is different from Dolphin Pro. There is no direct upgrade path. We recommend it for different kind of projects. If Dolphin Pro works for you, stick to it - it will be gradually upgraded with the best features of Trident while retaining its own broad functionality. Heart Head Hands |

We will make migration script which will transfer all possible data, for now we can potentially transfer: Profiles -> Persons, Images & Videos -> Albums, Blogs -> Posts. Upon adding new modules migration script will be able to transfer more data. how about just a user migration ..thats all i need..other stuff i can move manually..
