Anyone on this site ever installed red5?

Has anyone on this site here ever installed red5 server, and is there anyone on here who just might be a complete red4 buff?

There are hundreds of red5 tutorials on the internet depending on what you're running your webserver on. Alot of the blogs/tuts include some form of trouble shooting too. I've installed it a fair few times for other things.

we found a VPS provider that created a CentOS 5.5 OS with build in Red 5 when we asked then if they could install Red 5 for us , so all we needed to do was the reinstall our OS and it was installed for us. this also allows then to offer this OS as a pre configured Red 5 system.  message me if you need to know the host we use for red 5

The problem with all these tuts online, the directions are all cool until it's time to compile with "ant" and "CentOS"

when red5 is expanded the "build.xml" file is missing from the default folder.

The only way I could get build.xml was to directly download red from red5.org and expand manually, leaving me with the build.xml file.

Fast forward to moving build.xml to the missing directory leads to another error mentioning something about "Ivy"

so I reinstall perl and include the "ivy" modules.

Never could get this to work.

On Ubuntu OS systems, red5 is a simple apt-get statement.

this is using "ant prepare"

root@mynewbeetle [/opt/red5]# ant prepare

Buildfile: /opt/red5/build.xml

[taskdef] Could not load definitions from resource org/apache/ivy/ant/antlib.xml. It could not be found.

prepare:

and the error with "ant"

root@mynewbeetle [/opt/red5]# ant

[taskdef] Could not load definitions from resource org/apache/ivy/ant/antlib.xml. It could not be found.

-library.check:

compile-core:

retrieve:

Yes, I know the red5 is done, still want some input on this issue as I tried to put red5 on my server and ran into the same problems, leading me in the direction that CentOS 6 is not good with red5, all my research has led me to re doing the OS and using CentOS 5.3 as red5 is a few simple steps to complete.

With our install the java error is what I'm concerned with.

Being as you cannot come online today. No Skype either?

I was thinking about trashing the server and putting Ubuntu on it since it is defunct as is now.

I'm listening!!!

Ok probably installing ubuntu would be faster than waiting. It will not have any cpanel so should not take another 2 hours. Go ahead...its already quite frustrating now. Lets get this simply done. Ps. Oh and no skype, using my tab now....
