Anyone having trouble with logo upload

I can't seem to get my logo upload to "stick".   Is anyone else having this issue? It just ends up with a link that says "logo" on the site, and not the image itself.I've tried several formats, but none seem to work - which works the best?  jpg?  gif?  png?   Does the chron do the conversion on the logo?  How long should I wait to see if it works - one minute or more?  Thanks.

no problems here. Make sure that your folders are writable.

media/images/

Also make sure the the "image resize" is unchecked.

If you still have issues, you can always ftp into your site and overwrite the default one.

Thanks Lavinco - changed /media from 755 to 777 but no effect.   What would I replace?  "small_logo.png?   I just tried to re-upload that and it still didn't work.  Is there a chron lag time?

media/images/big_logo.png can be replaced via ftp.

also check your settings under Administration >> Tools >> Host Tools. This might show you which folder does not have the right permissions.

No Logo problems here. I am running beta 5 on cutealicious.com and the logo upload worked fine. sounds like either a permission issue or an extension issue you are having. did you add the photo extensions JPG JPEG GIF PNG jpeg Dolphin doesn't come with these extensions added by default. extensions ARE case sensitive, so you need upper and lower case for all extensions.

Thanks for jumping in on this Dan.   What do you mean, "Did you add the file extensions"?   How do I do that?  I have installed all modules sucessfully, but I still get the error.  One hint- I looked in the directory, and after I tried to do the upload "big_logo.png" was no longer there.  I took one of the png files I created, renamed it to that, and tried the forced upload procedure that Lavinco recommended - that didn't work either.   Any other ideas?

Rob... you got all the caching turned off?

If you go to the admin panel and click "extensions" then click "photos". where it says "Administration" click "settings" and under "Allowed Extensions", put the      jpg png gif jpeg JPEG GIF PNG JPG   and save. If you tried to rename your logo with the same name as the default logo and tried to overwrite it with FTP, and that still didn't work, you may have a bigger issue. The one I uploaded to my test site at www.cutealicious.com is a .gif file and that worked without any issues. You could use ftp to delete the current logo and then use ftp to upload your new logo that has the same name and extension as the one you delete, that should work. Clear your cookies and your cache in your browser also.

Thanks again Dan - most of those settings were already there, but added all of them on your list.    Tried deleteing the current "big_logo.png" and uploading a new one - didn't work.   Looked at it first in MS picture manager and it looked fine.  Have tried several other formats.  Tested in several different browsers - ff, ie, chrome - cleared cache there as well - didn't work.   Houston, have tried image cache both on and off - doesn't seem to work either way.  Have also hit the "clear cache" button.  I'm stumped.

hmmm that is a head scratcher. are there any spaces in your file name? after you deleted your default logo, did you refresh your site to make sure it didn't show up anymore? In the admin panel, if you go to "Tools" "host Tools" , does it show all the correct permissions on the folders and files? what is the url of the site in question? you can p.m. it tome if you don't want to post it.

Just some ideas. This is a very strange problem.

I'm using a transparent .png without any problem. Uploaded it via administration panel and I had the picture re-sizer on. It showed immediately. The picture re-sizer should also be set to the size you want, even a bit larger than the size of the logo is, doesn't cause any problems. If you have it down tuned to 0 it shows nothing, I tried it, whether it's turned off or not. I had it 64x64 when I went to that setting. That needs to be changed. It doesn't re-size but cut it to 64x64.

Even I uploaded a slightly larger size and I had no problems.

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised how flexible the header adjusted. http://civoc.com

Delete the ".htaccess" files in your "media" folder and and "media" > "images" folder (or to be on the safer side, just rename them to ".htaccess-" or something).

This is because there are certain codes in the ".htaccess" of these folders that are blocking the images. That should sort it!
