Alternatives to Whatsapp & Viber ?

Hello folks -

Just last week our government back home has blocked whatsapp, viber and all the great free apps on the market and was wondering if I there is an alternative I can provide to my community via my D7 site ?
I see some new cool features now such as Chat+ and was wondering if that can be an option to use for my community or any other alternatives..  that would be extremely helpful..

I had to look up Whatsapp and Viber as I am not familiar with thme. But to answer your question - yes - Chat+ is a viable option if you want to allow members to message each other. Please keep in mind, though - that oyu would need a dedicated server or a VPS to be able to use the Chat+ (you need to download and install Chat server on your dedicated server or VPS). If you are just loking for simple messaging capabilities with no need for a dedicated server - you can use the already included Chat module - which is different than the Chat+ module. And someone like Zarconia could offer you access to an RMS server for a really inexpensive fee each month. This chat does include video messagins as well, but is developed in Flash - which is slowly being phased out.

Chat+ is better as there is a mobile app that works great on Android devices - have not been able to do full testing with an Apple device yet though. There are Desktop Notifications as well as mobile device notifications also with the Chat+ - not with the regular Chat module.
